چکیده
lates with the maturational stage of these cells. We have studied cyclin D1 expression in the inner ear. Besides its well known function in the cell cycle control, cyclin D1 has also been implicated in other cellular processes like cell death, cellular differentiation and cancer. During early embryogenesis cyclin D1 is widely expressed in the developing sensory epithelia, but it becomes downregulated at the onset of morphological differentiation of both cochlear and vestibular hair cells. Interestingly, cyclin D1 expression transiently returns to cochlear hair cells at P3 and stays until P9. This postnatal period corresponds to the period of functional maturation of hair cells. Cyclin D1 is not expressed in differentiated vestibular hair cells, but is strongly expressed in vestibular supporting cells. After first postnatal week cyclin D1 expression is downregulated from vestibular supporting cells, but persists in a small population of these cells until adulthood. Thus, cyclin D1 might be one of the factors that determine the proliferative capacity of hair cells.

Regulation of TGF-β signalling by Fbxo11, the gene mutated in the Jeff otitis media mouse mutant
BACKGROUND Jeff is a dominant mouse mutant displaying chronic otitis media. The gene underlying Jeff is Fbxo11, a member of the large F-box family, which are specificity factors for the SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Jeff homozygotes die shortly after birth displaying a number of developmental abnormalities including cleft palate and eyes open at birth. TGF-beta signalling is involved in a nu...

Otitis media (OM), inflammation of the middle ear, is the most common cause of hearing impairment and surgery in children. Recurrent and chronic forms of OM are known to have a strong genetic component, but nothing is known of the underlying genes involved in the human population. We have previously identified a novel semi-dominant mouse mutant, Jeff, in which the heterozygotes develop chronic ...
متن کاملGene Regulation Network Based Analysis Associated with TGF-beta Stimulation in Lung Adenocarcinoma Cells
Background: Transforming growth factor (TGF)-β is over-expressed in a wide variety of cancers such as lung adenocarcinoma. TGF-β plays a major role in cancer progression through regulating cancer cell proliferation and remodeling of the tumor micro-environment. However, it is still a great challenge to explain the phenotypic effects caused by TGF-β stimulation and the effect of TGF-β stimulatio...
متن کاملThe Genetics of Chronic Otitis Media
150 Abstract Chronic otitis media is the major reason for middle ear surgery. Epidemiological studies have revealed high heritability of persistent or recurrent middle ear inflammation. The genetic basis of chronic otitis media is complex, but a number of methods can be used to interrogate this complexity. The most promising method is the identification of genetic mutant mouse models, which may...

Transforming growth factor betas (TGF?s) are one of the most widespread and versatile cytokines. The three mammalian TGF? isoforms, ?1, ?2, and ?3, and their receptors regulate proliferation of neuronal precursors as well as survival and differentiation in neurons of developing and adult nervous system. Functions of TGF?s has a wide spectrum ranging from regulating cell proliferation and differ...
