Minimax Entropy Solutions of Ill - Posed Problems

چکیده
Convergent methodology for ill-posed problems is typically equivalent to application of an operator dependent on a single parameter derived from the noise level and the data (a regularization parameter or terminal iteration number). In the context of a given problem discretized for purposes of numerical analysis, these methods can be viewed as resulting from imposed prior constraints bearing the same amount of information content. We identify a new convergent method for the treatment of certain multivariate ill-posed problems, which imposes constraints of a much lower information content (i.e., having much lower bias), based on the operator’s dependence on many dataderived parameters. The associated marked performance improvements that are possible are illustrated with solution estimates for a Lyapunov equation structured by an illconditioned matrix. The methodology can be understood in terms of a Minimax Entropy Principle, which emerges from the Maximum Entropy Principle in some multivariate settings.

On rate optimality for ill-posed inverse problems in econometrics
In this paper, we clarify the relations between the existing sets of regularity conditions for convergence rates of nonparametric indirect regression (NPIR) and nonparametric instrumental variables (NPIV) regression models. We establish minimax risk lower bounds in mean integrated squared error loss for the NPIR and the NPIV models under two basic regularity conditions that allow for both mildl...
متن کاملIll-Posed and Linear Inverse Problems
In this paper ill-posed linear inverse problems that arises in many applications is considered. The instability of special kind of these problems and it's relation to the kernel, is described. For finding a stable solution to these problems we need some kind of regularization that is presented. The results have been applied for a singular equation.
متن کاملKalman duality principle for a class of ill-posed minimax control problems with linear differential- algebraic constraints
In this paper we present Kalman duality principle for a class of linear Differential-Algebraic Equations (DAE) with arbitrary index and timevarying coefficients. We apply it to an ill-posed minimax control problem with DAE constraint and derive a corresponding dual control problem. It turns out that the dual problem is ill-posed as well and so classical optimality conditions are not applicable ...
