Developing an incident response process model for chemical facilities
نویسنده
چکیده
This research project investigated the incident response mechanism used by the chemical industry for handling extremely hazardous chemicals. The mechanism was described as the policies, procedures, practices, tools, and methods used to conduct incident response. The results from the study determined what technologies, specifically software and information systems, could be utilized to improve the chemical facility incident response mechanism. The chemical industry is responsible for process safety management at all of its facilities, especially those that have off-site consequences in the event of an unplanned release. The processes and procedures of local, regional and national emergency responders have been studied thoroughly. An area of research that is lacking is the study of incident response policies and procedures within the boundaries of a chemical site. Results of the analysis determined that the chemical industry, in general, does not take advantage of available information technology when responding to unplanned releases.

Elimination of Waste and Inefficient Facilities in Existing Buildings for Sustainability in Developing Nations
A major reason why many developing nations have not made significant advancement in sustainable development (SD) agenda is the neglect of existing building stock which forms the bulk of built assets. Although sustainable development is a universal challenge, it cannot be approached in the same way for all nations, but rather practical response can be defined nationally or locally. This paper re...

A mass casualty incident (MCI) is that which requires a response beyond standard deployment. These can result from natural or artificial events. Casualties can present in peacetime or be evacuated from battle fields. Mass casualty management in most military health facilities in developing countries is not optimal. There are challenges occasioned by dearth of trained, specialized manpower, lack...

متن کاملHeuristic Process Model Simplification in Frequency Response Domain
Frequency response diagrams of a system include detailed and recognizable information about the structural and parameter effects of the transfer function model of the system. The information are qualitatively and quantitatively obtainable from simultaneous consideration of amplitude ratio and phase information. In this paper, some rules and relationships are presented for making use of frequenc...
متن کاملRejection of the Feed-Flow Disturbances in a Multi-Component Distillation Column Using a Multiple Neural Network Model-Predictive Controller
This article deals with the issues associated with developing a new design methodology for the nonlinear model-predictive control (MPC) of a chemical plant. A combination of multiple neural networks is selected and used to model a nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) process with time delays. An optimization procedure for a neural MPC algorithm based on this model is then developed. T...
