چکیده

We calculate first-principles interaction energies between substitutional solutes and oxygen interstitials in a-titanium and predict the effect of solutes on oxygen diffusion from those interactions. Interaction between 45 solutes across the periodic table and three oxygen interstitial sites are calculated with density-functional theory. The interaction energies show distinct trends across the periodic table corresponding to both atomic radii and the period. Changes in diffusion barrier due to solutes are modeled with the kinetically resolved activation barrier approximation. Solute effects at infinite dilution are numerically calculated and show both accelerated and reduced oxygen diffusivity.

Checking the Sensitivity of Solute Advection- Dispersion Model to Reaction Coefficients and River Hydraulic Properties in the Process of Dissolved Oxygen Simulation

Nowadays, environmental pollutions especially water pollution is increasingly developing. One of the problems of entering the pollutants to rivers is reduction in the concentration of river dissolved oxygen. In order to manage the water resources, amount of dissolved oxygen should be predicted. This study presents a novel equation for simulating the concentration of river dissolved oxygen by ad...

The effect of titanium dioxide and molybdenum oxide on the properties of sodium potassium niobate piezoceramic

Sodium potassium niobate piezoceramics are considered as lead-free piezoelectric due to their good properties. In this study, the effect of titanium dioxide and molybdenum oxide as dopant on the densification behavior, piezoelectric and dielectric properties of lithium doped sodium potassium niobate ((K0.5Na0.5)0.94Li0.06NbO3, KNNL) was investigated. For this purpose, (K0.5Na0.5)0.94Li0.06Nb0.9...

Plasticity Induced Transformation in a metastable β Ti-1023 alloy by controlled heat treatments

Investigations into the possibility of improving the strength-ductility relation in a metastable β-titanium alloy (Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al) through plasticity induced transformation (PiTTi) have been carried out. Various heat treatments in the β and/or α+β condition were performed to study their influence on both the microstructure and solute partitioning, which eventually control the PiTTi effect. Stre...

Direct diffusion through interpenetrating networks: oxygen in titanium.

How impurity atoms move through a crystal is a fundamental and recurrent question in materials. The previous models of oxygen diffusion in titanium relied on interstitial lattice sites that were recently found to be unstable--leaving no consistent picture of the diffusion pathways. Using first-principles quantum-mechanical methods, we find three oxygen interstitial sites in titanium, and quanti...

Effect of Gas-Diffusion Oxynitriding on Microstructure and Hardness of Ti-6Al-4V Alloys

The commercially available titanium alloy, Ti-6Al-4V, was oxynitrided in the deoxygenated nitrogen gas at high temperatures followed by cooling in oxygen-containing nitrogen in order to analyze the influence of oxynitriding parameters on the phase modification, hardness, and the microstructural evolution of the oxynitrided coating. The surface microhardness of the oxynitrided alloy increased du...
