چکیده
According to Hope [1] myiasis is a disease of human beings originated specially with dipterous larvae. Zumpt [2] defined myiasis as “the infestation of live vertebrate animals with dipterous larvae, which at least for a certain period, feed on host’s dead or living tissues, liquid body substances or ingested food”. These invasions may be benign in effect or may result in mild to violent disturbances, even death. Flies belonging to family Calliphoridae mostly cause traumatic and wound myiasis Roy [3]. The present paper reports a case of cutaneous wound myiasis of a person caused by maggots of family Calliphoridae.

Estimated Post-mortem Intervals (PMI) of Pathologist and Entomologist in Malaysia: a Comparison
T forensic entomological specimens were examined from the Medical Entomology Unit, Institute for Medical Research, hospitals, and the police department, in Malaysia. Three species of cyclorrphagic flies were identified as Chrysomya rufifacies Macquart (the hairy maggot blowfly), C. megacephala Fabricius (the oriental latrine fly) and 1 specimen of Hermetia illucen Linnaeus (the black soldier fl...
متن کاملSpecies Identification of Forensic Important Blowflies (Diptera, Calliphoridae) that occur in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
An important goal in forensic entomology is the identification of necrophagous fly species that breed directly on carcasses. In kingdom of Saudi Arabia there are rarely studies on carrion breeding blowflies. Using rabbit carcasses as a model for study, a key for the identification of three species of blowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) collected from deferent habitat (desert, urban, agriculture ...
متن کاملSpread in South Africa of the Oriental latrine fly Chrysomya megacephala. (Fabricius) (Diptera: Calliphoridae), an introduced species closely resembling Chrysomya bezziana Villeneuve.
Chrysomya megacephala, also known as the Oriental latrine fly, is indigenous to south-east Asia. During the 1970's it successfully invaded Africa and South America, and more recently during the 1980's also established itself in the United States of America. Although the first specimens from South Africa were collected from the south-western Cape Province in 1978, no published data appears to ex...
متن کاملThe dynamics of intraguild predation in Chrysomya albiceps Wied. (Diptera: Calliphoridae): interactions between instars and species under different abundances of food.
The pattern of larval interaction in blowflies confined with Chrysomya albiceps Wied. and C. rufifacies Maquart can be changed in response to the predatory behaviour of the two species to a contest-type process instead of the scramble competition that usually occurs in blowflies. Facultative predation is a frequent behaviour in C. albiceps and C. rufifacies that occurs as an alternative food so...

This paper presents complete mitochondrial genomes for the sheep blowfly, Lucilia sericata (Meigen), and the secondary blowfly, Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius). Both L. sericata and C. megacephala had standard dipteran-type mitochondrial genome architectures and lengths of 15 945 bp and 15 831 bp, respectively. Additionally, C. megacephala possessed a tRNA duplication either side of the D-loo...
