چکیده

T he natural prostanoids arise from the activity of intracellular cyclo-oxygenase (COX) on polyunsaturated fatty acids released from membrane phospholipids. In the case of the most important substrate, arachidonic acid (20:4ω6), the first product is prostaglandin G2 (PGG2), which is then reduced to PGH2 by an associated 15-hydroperoxidase [1]. Depending on the tissue, PGH2 may be further metabolized by isomerases to PGD2, PGE2, PGI2 (prostacyclin and TXA2 and by a reductase to PGF2α.

Optimum Conditions of Radioligand Receptor Binding Assay of Ligands of Benzodiazepine Receptors

To obtain drugs which are more selective at benzodiazepine (BZD) receptors, design and synthesis of functionally selective ligands for BZD receptors is the current strategy of our pharmaceutical chemistry department. The affinity of newly synthesized ligands is assessed by radioligand receptor binding assays. Based on our previous studies, 2-phenyl-5-oxo-7-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolo[a,2,3]-pyrimid...

International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology. LXXXIII: classification of prostanoid receptors, updating 15 years of progress.

It is now more than 15 years since the molecular structures of the major prostanoid receptors were elucidated. Since then, substantial progress has been achieved with respect to distribution and function, signal transduction mechanisms, and the design of agonists and antagonists (http://www.iuphar-db.org/DATABASE/FamilyIntroductionForward?familyId=58). This review systematically details these a...

Metabotropic glutamate receptors and their ligands applications in neurological and psychiatric disorders

Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) consist of a large family of G-protein coupled receptors that are critical for regulating normal neuronal function in the central nervous system. The wide distribution and diverse physiological roles of various mGluR subtypes make them highly attractive targets for the treatment of a number of neurological and psychiatric disorders. The discovery of ...

THE EXPRESSION AND FUNCTION OF NATIVE EP AND FP PROSTANOID RECEPTORS IN CULTURED CELLS DERIVED FROM THE HUMAN BRAIN AND EYE by

The prostaglandins comprise a group of bioactive lipids generated from arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenases and cell type-specific prostaglandin and thromboxane synthases. Prostaglandins mediate local cell signaling interactions by activation of G-protein coupled prostanoid receptors. Because the prostaglandins and their receptors are active in all tissues, they have an extraordinarily broad spe...
