Element Abundances and Galactic Chemical Evolution

چکیده
Recent developments in the study of element abundances and their impact on our understanding of the evolution of stars and the chemical evolution of the Galaxy are described. In particular, problems that may beneet, or beneet from, work on binary stellar populations are highlighted. These include: diierent mixing processes in globular cluster and eld stars, evidenced by Li and nuclei in the NeNa-and MgAl-cycles. the range of carbon overabundances in metal-poor stars, accompanied by a range of sand r-process element abundances. the timescale for the evolution of SN Ia progenitors is poorly known. the production of nitrogen is very poorly understood. the nucleosynthesis of many iron-peak elements are poorly understood.

Model-independent Predictions of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis
We derive constraints from standard (with Nν = 3) BBN arising solely from two cosmologically produced nuclides, He and Li, from which the extrapolation to primordial abundances is straightforward. The abundances of D and He are at present only inferred from their solar and local interstellar medium values using models of galactic chemical evolution. However, our knowledge of chemical evolution ...
متن کاملGalactic and Cosmic Chemical Evolution with Hypernovae
We provide new nucleosynthesis yields depending on metallicity and energy (i.e., (normal supernovae and hypernovae), and show the evolution of heavy element abundances from C to Zn in the solar neighborhood. We then show the chemodynamical simulation of the Milky Way Galaxy and discuss the G-dwarf problem. We finally show the cosmological simulation and discuss the galaxy formation and chemical...
متن کاملOn the Evolution of the Light Elements
The light elements D, He, He, and Li are produced in big bang nucleosynthesis and undergo changes in their abundances due to galactic processing. Since one may observe most of these elements only in contemporary environments, knowledge of the intervening evolution is necessary for determining the observational constraints on primordial nucleosynthesis. Chemical and stellar evolution model depen...

New low and intermediate mass star yields recalculated by Buell (1987) are evaluated by using them in a Galactic Chemical Evolution model. We analyze their effects on CNO elemental abundances

We have extended our chemical and cosmological galaxy evolution model to calculate the abundance evolution for altogether 16 different elements in spiral galaxies in a chemically consistent way which is a considerable step towards a more realistic galaxy modeling. All observed element abundances in DLA systems have been compiled. The comparison with our model calculations yields the following r...
