Evidence of local superconductivity in granular Bi nanowires fabricated by electrodeposition

چکیده
An unusual enhancement of resistance i.e., a “superresistivity” below a certain characteristic temperature Tsr was observed in granular Bi nanowires. This “superresistive” state was found to be dependent on the applied magnetic field as well as the excitation current. The suppression of Tsr by magnetic field resembles that of a superconductor. The observed superresistivity appears to be related to the nucleation of local superconductivity inside the granular nanowire without long-range phase coherence. The phenomenon is reminiscent of the “Cooper-pair insulator” observed previously in ultrathin two-dimensional superconducting films and threedimensional percolative superconducting films.

Observation of superconductivity in granular bi nanowires fabricated by electrodeposition.
Bulk rhombohedral Bi at ambient pressure is a well-known semimetal, and its transition to a superconductor has not been observed, at least down to 50 mK. We report that, unlike bulk rhombohedral Bi, granular Bi nanowires with well-defined rhombohedral grains of approximately 10 nm diameter, fabricated by electrochemically depositing Bi into porous polycarbonate membranes at ambient pressure, ar...

CoFeCu nanowires were deposited by pulsed electrodeposition technique into the porous alumina templates by a two-step mild anodization technique, using the single-bath method. The electrodeposition was performed in a constant electrolyte while Cu constant was controlled by electrodeposition current. The electrodeposition current was 3.5, 4.25, 5 and 6 mA. The effect of electrodeposition current...
متن کاملThe effect of pulsed electrodeposition parameters on the microstructure and magnetic properties of the CoNi nanowires
CoNi nanowires were deposited by pulsed electrodeposition technique into porous alumina templates. The effect of off time between pulses (toff) and reductive/oxidative time (treduc/oxid) on the microstructure and magnetic properties of the CoNi nanowires were investigated. Maximum coercivity and squareness were obtained for samples fabricated at treduc/oxid= 0.5 ms and toff =400 ms. The coerciv...
متن کاملFinite-size effects in bismuth nanowires
Arrays of semimetallic Bi nanowires, fabricated by electrodeposition, exhibit strong finite-size effects in transport properties as the carrier mean-free path is limited by the wire dimensions. We have observed a resistivity enhancement, a very large positive magnetoresistance, and a resistance maximum that depends on the strength and orientation of the magnetic field and the nanowire diameter....

Arrays of thermoelectric bismuth telluride (Bi(2)Te(3)) nanowires were grown into porous anodic alumina (PAA) membranes prepared by a two-step anodization. Bi(2)Te(3) nanowire arrays were deposited by galvanostatic, potentiostatic and pulsed electrodeposition from aqueous solution at room temperature. Depending on the electrodeposition method and as a consequence of different growth mechanisms,...
