Nano-Tera.CH: Nano-technologies for Tera-scale Problems

چکیده

The Nano-Tera.CH initiative is a broad engineering program in Switzerland for health and security of humans and the environment, currently funded by the Swiss government. The program rationale is rooted in advances in engineering nano-scale materials and their exploitation in a variety of systems, requiring extreme integration and coordinated control of diverse micro/nano-scale components. Embodiments of such systems can be found in lightweight, mobile and personalized products embedded in the environment and on/in the body. These products will enable us, for example, to detect in real time different health risks and conditions through integrated bio probing, to reveal security risks through smart buildings and environments, to save energy through ambient sensing, and to detect and monitor environmental hazards such as floods and avalanches from space and/or inaccessible positions on earth. The outstanding novelty and power of these systems stem from their connectedness and the integration of heterogeneous components. Index Terms — Nanotechnology, nanoelectronics, MEMS, NEMS, VLSI, sensors, software, systems.

Challenges and Emerging Technologies for System Integration beyond the End of the Roadmap of Nano-CMOS

By 2020 it is very likely that nano-CMOS will reach the end of the scaling roadmap. Such end will not mean the demise of silicon technology at all. While there are uncertainties as to what will be the show-stoppers, there is a large number of transitional and compatible to CMOS technologies that will be more important than just 2-D scaling. This paper discusses possible limitations bringing the...

Efficient Design of Nano Scale Adder and Subtractor Circuits using Quantum dot Cellular Automata

Low power dissipation, high packaging density and operation at Tera-hertz frequencies are highly desired features in the design and fabrication of logic circuits. Promising realization of these highly desired features have made Quantum dot Cellular Automata (QCA) a prospective replacement to the conventional CMOS technology for the fabrication of logic circuits in nano scale range. The traditio...

Low Power in Nano-scale Cmos Memory

Future technologies required nano-scale CMOS memory to be operating in low power consumption. The minimum operating voltage of the nano-scale CMOS played as a main factor to reduce the power consumption. Consequently, there are some limitations and obstacles to achieve the objective for several design, material and novel structural solutions, which are promising and reliable. In this research, ...
