Monteggia Fracture Dislocation with Ipsilateral Distal Radius - Ulna Fracture in a Child
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background – Monteggia fracture dislocation is proximal ulna fracture with radial head dislocation. We present a rare case of monteggia fracture dislocation Bado type III with ipsilateral distal radius physis injury Salter Harris type II in an eight year old boy. It is to highlight the importance of clinical examination and the need of radiograph one joint above and below the fracture. Case Report: An eight year old boy presented with history of fall from roof and sustained a combined Monteggia injury with ipsilateral distal radius physis injury, managed by open reduction of proximal ulna fracture and close reduction of distal radius physis with good functional outcome at 4 months. Conclusion: This report highlights the rare combination of Monteggia fracture dislocation with ipsilateral distal radius physis injury and emphasizing the universal rule of examining one joint above and below and including both when taking radiographs for suspected long bone fractures.

Simultaneous monteggia type I fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna in a child: a case report
INTRODUCTION Simultaneous Monteggia injuries of the elbow and ipsilateral distal radius and ulna fractures are very rare. CASE PRESENTATION A unique case of a type I Monteggia fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna (Salter-Harris type II) in a child is reported. We describe the management of this unique fracture and discuss the possible mechanism of injury...
متن کاملFracture Of The Proximal Ulna In Association With An Ipsilateral Complex Distal Radius Fracture: A Case Report
Simultaneous ipsilateral distal and proximal fractures of the forearm are rare [1-3]. There have been case reports describing an olecranon fracture associated with an ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[1], a Monteggia lesion with an associated ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[4] or associated with ipsilateral distal radius and ulna metaphyseal fractures[5, 6]. Furthermore, t...
متن کاملVariants of Monteggia Type Injury: Case Reports
BACKGROUND Monteggia fracture-dislocation is rare in children. Various reports attest to its rarity, while recording the many variant of this injury. It is, therefore, easy to miss the diagnosis in the absence of proper clinical examination and radiographs. CASE REPORT This report highlights two rare variants of Monteggia fracture-dislocation seen in children. The first case was a 12-year old...
متن کاملRare presentation of a type I Monteggia fracture.
A rare case is reported of a Monteggia equivalent injury where a dislocation of the radial head is associated with fracture of the distal third of the radius and ulna. The mechanism, treatment and outcome are described.

INTRODUCTION Traumatic dislocation of the radial head in paediatric population is a well described injury, it is usually associated with an injury to the ulna in the Monteggia lesion (1), but can occur as an isolated injury also (2,3). CASE REPORT A 4.5 year old girl presented to emergency department with her right upper limb held in pronation and flexion following isolated closed injury. Roe...
