Spectrum Asymptotics of Airy’s Operator under Perturbation

چکیده
We study the eigenvalue problem of perturbed Airy operator −4 + (x + V (x)) on positive real axis, with Dirichlet boundary condition. Given the asymptotic expansion of V (x) at +∞, we provide asymptotic expansion of the eigenvalues λn to certain order. Then we will provide an example to show that in general, merely from the asymptotic expansion of V (x), the asymptotic expansion of λn cannot be completely determined.

On spectrum of a periodic operator with a small localized perturbation
We study the spectrum of a periodic self-adjoint operator on the axis perturbed by a small localized nonself-adjoint operator. It is shown that the continuous spectrum is independent of the perturbation, the residual spectrum is empty, and the point spectrum has no finite accumulation points. We address the existence of the embedded eigenvalues. We establish the necessary and sufficient conditi...
متن کاملNon-self-adjoint Differential Operators
We describe methods which have been used to analyze the spectrum of non-self-adjoint differential operators, emphasizing the differences from the self-adjoint theory. We find that even in cases in which the eigenfunctions can be determined explicitly, they often do not form a basis; this is closely related to a high degree of instability of the eigenvalues under small perturbations of the opera...
متن کاملA ug 2 00 1 EIGENVALUES OF AN ELLIPTIC SYSTEM
We describe the spectrum of a non-self-adjoint elliptic system on a finite interval. Under certain conditions we find that the eigenvalues form a discrete set and converge asymptotically at infinity to one of several straight lines. The eigenfunctions need not generate a basis of the relevant Hilbert space, and the larger eigenvalues are extremely sensitive to small perturbations of the operato...
متن کاملOn the Discrete Spectrum of a Family of Differential Operators
A family Aα of differential operators depending on a real parameter α is considered. The problem can be formulated in the language of perturbation theory of quadratic forms. The perturbation is only relatively bounded but not relatively compact with respect to the unperturbed form. The spectral properties of the operator Aα strongly depend on α. In particular, for α < √ 2 the spectrum of Aα bel...
