Simultaneous Structural and Manufacturing Optimization of Composite Parts Using Normal Constraint Method

چکیده

Due to the large number of design variables and objectives, the design of composite materials is more complex than the design of uniform isotropic materials. This is not only because of the anisotropic material properties but also because of the strong interconnection between design and manufacturing issues. The optimized design of composite structures requires simultaneous optimization of structural performance and manufacturing process [1]. Such a challenge calls for a Multi-Objective Optimization (MOO) approach. MOO aims at finding one or more solutions of the Pareto optimal set, which consist of non-dominated points in the criterion space. Here, a MOO approach is used to find a set of optimal designs for a composite component that simultaneously optimizes structural and manufacturing objectives.
