چکیده

The application of Wigner distribution (WD)-based signal synthesis to signal separation problems is often adversely affected by WD interference terms. We present a modified signal synthesis method where the use of a masked WD allows the definition of don’t-care regions. In the don’t-care regions, detrimental interference terms (whose timefrequency location is assumed to be known) are ignored. The synthesis result is calculated using a modified version of the quasi power algorithm previously proposed for smoothed WD’s. The new synthesis method is shown to possess a desirable time-frequency extrapolation capability as well as a potential tendency to produce spurious signal components in the don’t-care regions. The occurrence of spurious signal components can be avoided by the inclusion of an “energy penalty.” I. Pathologies cardiac discrimination using the Fast Fourir Transform (FFT) The short time Fourier transforms (STFT) and the Wigner distribution (WD)

This paper is concerned with a synthesis study of the fast Fourier transform (FFT), the short time Fourier transform (STFT and the Wigner distribution (WD) in analysing the phonocardiogram signal (PCG) or heart cardiac sounds.     The FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) can provide a basic understanding of the frequency contents of the heart sounds. The STFT is obtained by calculating the Fourier tran...

Application of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation

Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...

Ecg Noise Modelling in Time-frequency Domain Using the Polynomial Extrapolation

The paper presents a new ECG-dedicated noise removal technique. The proposed algorithm makes use of the local bandwidth variability of cardiac electrical representation. Background activities of any origin (muscle, mains interference etc.) are measured in specified regions of the time-frequency plane. Outside of these regions, where normally the cardiac representation components are expected, w...

A Time-Frequency approach for EEG signal segmentation

The record of human brain neural activities, namely electroencephalogram (EEG), is generally known as a non-stationary and nonlinear signal. In many applications, it is useful to divide the EEGs into segments within which the signals can be considered stationary. Combination of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert transform, called Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), is a new and powerful ...

Time-frequency modelling and discrimination of noise in the electrocardiogram.

In widely spread home care applications of ECG recorders, the traditional approach to the problem of noise immunity is no longer sufficient. This paper presents a new ECG-dedicated noise removal technique based on a time-frequency noise model computed in a quasi-continuous way. Our algorithm makes use of the local bandwidth variability of cardiac electrical representation and splits the discret...
