چکیده
Cardiovascular disease has become a major healthcare problem. To tackle this along with bypass surgery, the use of the Cardiovascular Stent is considered promising and effective. In this study, we aim to find the effectiveness of stent deployments and their influence on haemodynamics post their deployment. For the study we have reconstructed single unit of two commercially available stent designs: PS Stent and Bx Velocity Stent using COMSOL. Five different commercially used stent materials (SS-316L, PT-Cr alloy, Co-Cr alloy, Nitinol and Tantalum) were considered. Also three different stent strut geometries (rectangular, square and circular) were analyzed to study the heamodynamics post stent deployment and eventually find out the risk of restenosis.

Mechanical behavior of fully expanded commercially available endovascular coronary stents.
The mechanical behavior of endovascular coronary stents influences their therapeutic efficacy. Through computational studies, researchers can analyze device performance and improve designs. We developed a 1-dimensional finite element method, net-based algorithm and used it to analyze the effects of radial loading and bending in commercially available stents. Our computational study included des...

Coronary stent design affects the spatial distribution of wall shear stress (WSS), which can influence the progression of endothelialization, neointimal hyperplasia, and restenosis. Previous computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies have only examined a small number of possible geometries to identify stent designs that reduce alterations in near-wall hemodynamics. Based on a previously describ...

Stents have been commercially available for vascular and nonvascular applications for well over a decade. In this time, hundreds of designs have evolved utilizing a vast array of materials and fabrication techniques, assuming myriad forms and geometries and including various additions. These categories of distinctions are presented as a pyramid of stent design options, highlighting key advantag...

Brain aneurysms are abnormal ballooning of intracranial arteries which when left untreated may result in fatal outcome for the patients. Neurovascular stents have been used extensively in stent-assisted coiling treatment of aneurysms. Treatment with flow diverters (low porosity, fine-mesh stents) is used for complicated aneurysm geometries not amenable to coiling. Angiographic analysis with mat...

This paper presents the computational modeling of a variety of flow-diverting stents, deployed in a number of patient-specific aneurysm geometries. We consider virtual device deployment and hemodynamics as well as thrombus formation, with the scope to assess pre-operatively the efficacy of specific devices in treating particular aneurysms. An algorithm based on a linear and torsional spring ana...
