New catheter for tortuous vertebral artery.
نویسنده
چکیده
The difficulty of catheterizing markedly tortuous vertebral arteries is well known to cerebral angiographers. When catheterization by the transfemoral approach fails, a left retrograde brachial flush injection or transax illary vertebral catheterization may be performed as alternative techniques in opacifying posterior fossa vessels . These additional approaches can be obviated by using a J tip catheter, tailored spec ifically for the very tortuous left vertebral artery origin.

The Benefits of Navien™ Intracranial Support Catheter for Endovascular Treatment
OBJECTIVE Endovascular treatment is one of the most important treatments along with open craniotomy for cerebrovascular surgery. The successful treatment of endovascular disease relies on appropriate instruments and the surgeon's skill. Endovascular treatment needs to provide safe and stable access to the catheter cavity. Additionally, it is important to maintain a round shape without changing ...
متن کاملTechniques for intracranial stent navigation in patients with tortuous vessels.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In some patients with stenosis of an intracranial artery, navigating the balloon or stent-delivery system is difficult of tortuous anatomy of the aortic arch, carotid arteries, or vertebral arteries Our purpose was to describe techniques of intracranial stent placement that help in navigating the stent-delivery system in tortuous vessels. METHODS Between May 1998 and Ju...
متن کاملMechanical Thrombectomy Using the Solitaire FR system for Occlusion of the Top of the Basilar Artery: Intentional Detachment of the Device after Partial Retrieval
Acute, distal, basilar artery occlusion is a challenging neurovascular emergency. There have been several reports regarding the successful application of the Solitaire FR device for treating this lesion. However, due to the lack of a suitable, balloon-tipped, guiding catheter for the vertebral artery, during this procedure we frequently experience the occurrence of clot fragmentation and distal...
متن کاملSuccessful percutaneous coil embolization of a severely tortuous coronary artery fistula using the mother-child-grandchild technique via a GuideLiner catheter
Coronary artery fistula is an uncommon congenital disease that requires invasive treatment for symptomatic patients. Although percutaneous intervention has become the popular treatment option, surgical treatment is preferred for severely tortuous coronary artery fistulas. We report a case of an extremely tortuous coronary artery fistula successfully treated with the support of the GuideLiner ca...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Hemifacial Spasm Caused by an Ectatic Vertebral Artery Accompanying Agenesis of the Carotid Artery.
We report the successful treatment of a patient with hemifacial spasm due to a tortuous vertebral artery that appeared to have developed to compensate for agenesis of the ipsilateral carotid artery. The 51-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of progressive left hemifacial spasm. His medical history was otherwise unremarkable except for untreated mild hypertension. Magnetic resonance an...
