Finite mixture of alpha-stable distributions

چکیده
6 Over the last decades, the α-stable distribution has proved to be a very efficient 7 model for impulsive data. In this paper, we propose an extension of stable distribu8 tions, namely mixture of α-stable distributions to model multimodal, skewed and 9 impulsive data. A fully Bayesian framework is presented for the estimation of the 10 stable density parameters and the mixture parameters. As opposed to most previ11 ous work on mixture models, the model order is assumed unknown and is estimated 12 using reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo. It is important to note that the 13 Gaussian mixture model is a special case of the presented model, which also provides 14 additional flexibility to model skewed and impulsive phenomena. The algorithm is 15 tested using synthetic and real data, accurately estimating α-stable parameters, 16 mixture coefficients and the number of components in the mixture. 17

The Negative Binomial Distribution Efficiency in Finite Mixture of Semi-parametric Generalized Linear Models
Introduction Selection the appropriate statistical model for the response variable is one of the most important problem in the finite mixture of generalized linear models. One of the distributions which it has a problem in a finite mixture of semi-parametric generalized statistical models, is the Poisson distribution. In this paper, to overcome over dispersion and computational burden, finite ...
متن کاملDetermination of the number of components in finite mixture distribution with Skew-t-Normal components
Abstract One of the main goal in the mixture distributions is to determine the number of components. There are different methods for determination the number of components, for example, Greedy-EM algorithm which is based on adding a new component to the model until satisfied the best number of components. The second method is based on maximum entropy and finally the third method is based on non...
متن کاملSAR Images Statistical Modeling and Classification Based on the Mixture of Alpha-Stable Distributions
This paper proposes the mixture of Alpha-stable (MAS) distributions for modeling statistical property of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images in a supervised Markovian classification algorithm. Our work is motivated by the fact that natural scenes consist of various reflectors with different types that are typically concentrated within a small area, and SAR images generally exhibit sharp peaks...
متن کاملBlind Source Separation Using Mixtures of Alpha-Stable Distributions
We propose a new blind source separation algorithm based on mixtures of alpha-stable distributions. Complex symmetric alpha-stable distributions have been recently showed to better model audio signals in the time-frequency domain than classical Gaussian distributions thanks to their larger dynamic range. However, inference of these models is notoriously hard to perform because their probability...
