چکیده

SU(3) heavy quark potentials at finite temperature are studied by quenched lattice QCD with the stochastic gauge-fixing method. In addition to the standard color average channel, we investigate qq̄ potentials in singlet and octet channels. The singlet qq̄ channel yields an attractive force, while the octet qq̄ potential is repulsive; the corresponding color average channel also results in the attractive force. As the temperature increases, these forces are weakened and their variations are very small; at T/Tc = 1.8 ∼ 5.6, the singlet attractive force survives over R ∼ 1/T . The singlet and octet potentials calculated with this algorithm have the small gauge dependence when the gauge parameter α is changed from 0.6 to 1.3.

Effective Potential for Polyakov Loops in Lattice QCD

Precise measurement of Polyakov loop correlation is important for finite temperature physics. First of all heavy quark potentials at finite temperature are obtained by measuring twoPolyakov-loop correlation functions. It is already well-known that we can obtain the QQ̄ potential below and above the critical temperature (TC) from this measurement. Due to the nonperturbative effects, however, ther...

Quarkonium at Finite Temperature

There was considerable interest in the properties and the fate of heavy quarkonium states at finite temperature since the famous conjecture by Matsui and Satz [1]. It has been argued that color screening in medium will lead to quarkonium dissociation above deconfinement, which in turn can signal quark gluon plasma formation in heavy ion collisions. The basic assumption behind the conjecture by ...

Static potentials for quarkonia at finite temperatures

We review non-perturbative static potentials commonly used in potential models for quarkonia at finite T . Potentials derived from Polyakov loop correlators are shown to be inappropriate for this purpose. The qq̄ free energy is physical but has the wrong spatial decay and perturbative limit. The so-called singlet free energy is gauge dependent and unphysical. An appropriate static real time pote...

The Effect of Exchange-Correlation Holes on the Temperature Dependent Dynamic Dielectric Function of Single-Layer Quantum Wells and Coupled Nanolayers

In this paper, for the first time we have studied theoretically the effect of exchange-correlation holes around electrons in GaAlAs/GaAs/GaAlAs nanostructure on the temperature-dependent dynamic dielectric function of two-dimensional electron gas by employing random phase, STLS and Hubbard approximations. Also, we have investigated another interesting system which is coupled quantum wells struc...

Free energies of heavy quarks in full-QCD lattice simulations with Wilson-type quark action

The free energy between a static quark and an antiquark is studied by using the color-singlet Polyakov-line correlation at finite temperature in lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors of improved Wilson quarks. From the simulations on 323 × 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 lattices in the high temperature phase, based on the fixed scale approach, we find that, the heavy-quark free energies at short distance converge to t...
