چکیده
compared with sitagliptin for patients with type 2 diabetes who do not have adequate glycemic control with metformin plus sulfonylurea: a 52-week randomized trial. In the print version of the article listed above, the fasting plasma glucose (FPG) data in conventional units (mg/dL) are not correct in Fig. 2C. The FPG data in SI units are correct; therefore, the conclusions do not change. The corrected Fig. 2C appears below. The online version reflects these changes.

Canagliflozin Compared With Sitagliptin for Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Who Do Not Have Adequate Glycemic Control With Metformin Plus Sulfonylurea
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of canagliflozin, a sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, compared with sitagliptin in subjects with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with metformin plus sulfonylurea. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS In this 52-week, randomized, double-blind, active-controlled, phase 3 study, subjects using stable metformin plus sulfonylurea (N = 755) recei...

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODSdIn this 52-week, randomized, double-blind, active-controlled, phase 3 study, subjects using stable metformin plus sulfonylurea (N = 755) received canagliflozin 300 mg or sitagliptin 100 mg daily. Primary end point was change from baseline in A1C at 52 weeks. Secondary end points included change in fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and systolic blood pressure (BP), and per...
متن کاملCanagliflozin improves risk factors of metabolic syndrome in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome
OBJECTIVE Metabolic syndrome refers to a collection of risk factors associated with the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Canagliflozin, a sodium glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor, improves glycemic control and reduces body weight and blood pressure (BP) in a broad range of patients with T2DM. This post hoc analysis assessed the effects of canagliflozin...
متن کاملEfficacy and safety of sitagliptin compared with sulfonylurea therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes showing inadequately controlled glycosylated hemoglobin with metformin monotherapy: A meta-analysis
Previous randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have reported conflicting results for the efficacy of sitagliptin and sulfonylurea therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus showing inadequate glycemic control with metformin monotherapy. To clarify these findings, a meta-analysis was conducted of the outcomes of all published RCTs comparing sitagliptin with sulfonylureas in the treatment of...
متن کاملCost-effectiveness of Canagliflozin versus Sitagliptin When Added to Metformin and Sulfonylurea in Type 2 Diabetes in Canada.
BackgroundCanagliflozin, an agent that inhibits sodium glucose co-transporter 2, is approved as add-on to metformin plus sulfonylurea for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in Canada. Canagliflozin offers greater glycemic control, as well as important additional benefits such as weight loss and blood pressure reductions, versus dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors such as sitagliptin.
