Color Noise Analysis

چکیده
Graininess is one of the important image quality metrics in the photographic quality. In this paper, we will report an investigation of our evaluation model for color graininess. In this evaluation model, overall image noise is predicted as a graininess index (GI) to the average lightness for each patch image, and the GI is calculated from two image noise metrics, the lightness noise (LN) and the chromatic noise (CN). These are estimated respectively from fluctuation of the brightness component and of the chromatic component in the image. Concerning this evaluation model, we made a subjective evaluation experiment in order to find the optimum weighting factor for CN. The correlation coefficient between the subjective evaluated levels and the optimized GI improved greatly compared with the case where CN is not considered, or the weighting factor for CN is zero. Using this optimized GI, we evaluated the color graininess for several hardcopy images with different printing types, like silver halide, electrophotography, ink jet, and so on, and we studied the perception of noise on color images.

Introduction: It has been shown that low levels of pigmentation increase susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss in humans. For this reason, white populations develop more pronounced noise- induced hearing loss in comparison to black populations. Similarly, blue-eyed individuals exhibit greater temporary threshold shift than brown-eyed subjects; still, no strong correlation has been veri...

t: Digital color cameras use a single sensor equipped with a color filter array (CFA) to capture scenes in color. Since each sensor cell can record only one color value, the other two missing components at each position need to be interpolated. The color interpolation process is usually called color demosaicking (CDM). The quality of demosaicked images is degraded due to the sensor noise introd...

The main objective of this work is to determine the reading performance of operators’ under different viewing angles of a desktop computer. The effects of text/background color, viewing distance and character size on the speed of reading were investigated. The text and/or the background color combination were varied, with constant luminance contrast. Performance was recorded in terms of words p...
متن کاملImpulsive Noise Elimination Considering the Bit Planes Information of the Image
Impulsive noise is one of the imposed defectives degrades the quality of images. Performance of many image processing applications directly depends on the quality of the input image. Hence, it is necessary to de-noise the degraded images without losing their valuable information such as edges. In this paper we propose a method to remove impulsive noise from color images without damaging the ima...

متن کاملMinimizing the Perception of Chromatic Noise in Digital Images
A psychophysical experiment was performed to measure the visibility of chromatic noise. Through Principle Component Analysis (PCA) on the results of this experiment, an orthogonal color space with the luminance channel independent of chromatic channels was constructed. By transforming noise images into this space, the visibility of chromatic noise can be predicted. Comparison with other opponen...
