Design and Performance of DDS-based Middleware for Real- Time Control Systems

چکیده
Data-centric design is emerging as a key tenet for building advanced data-critical distributed real-time and embedded systems. These systems must find the right data, know where to send it, and deliver it to the right place at the right time. Data Distribution Service (DDS) specifies an API designed for enabling real-time data distribution and is well suited for such complex distributed systems and QoS-enabled applications. It is also, widely known that Control Area Networks (CAN) are used in real-time, distributed and parallel processing. Thus, the goal idea of this paper is to study an implementation of publish-subscribe messaging middleware that supports the DDS specifications and that is customized for real-time networking. This implementation introduces an efficient approach of data temporal consistency and real-time network-scheduler that schedules network traffic based upon DDS QoS-policies. A simulator has been developed to demonstrate that our implementation fulfills the guarantees predicted by the theoretical results.

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware
The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

OMG (Object Management Group) DDS (Data Distribution Service for Real-time Systems) is an open international communication middleware standard for real-time and embedded systems. In this paper, a communication middleware model based on OMG DDS for multi-robot environments is presented. With the help of DDS QoS mechanism and Publish/Subscribe paradigm, proposed communication middleware abstracts...

متن کاملToward an Adaptive Data Distribution Service for Dynamic Large-Scale Network-Centric Operation and Warfare (NCOW) SystemsTo be sumitted to the 2008 Military Communications Conference
To achieve the goal of information dominance, the DoD has adopted the doctrine of net-centric operations and warfare (NCOW). The Global Information Grid (GIG), Future Combat System (FCS), C2 Constellation, and FORCEnet are examples of net-centric operations where multiple systems-of-systems integrate thousands of platforms, sensors, decision nodes, weapons, and warfighters through heterogeneous...

Standard based Pub/Sub middleware, such as OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS), could assume a key role in supporting computer communications requiring continuous state information updating, deterministic deadline to data delivering and real time information adjourning. This kind of capability could be well exploited by Peer-To-Peer (P2P) systems, Internet-wide as long as private ones, like in ...
