Xxxvi. the Composition of "lecithin," Together with Observations on the Distribution of Phosphatides in the Tissues and Methods for Their Ex- Traction and Purification
نویسنده
چکیده
About the year 1846 Gobley succeeded in obtaining from egg yolk and other organs a substance of a fat-like nature containing nitrogen and phosphorus which he called lecithin [1846]. This substance was soluble in alcohol and in ether, formed an emulsion when rubbed up with water and yielded fatty acids and glycerophosphoric acid on hydrolysis. These observations of Gobley furnished a basis for the structure of the lecithin molecule, which appeared to be completed by the discovery of Liebreich [1865] and Strecker [1868] that the base choline was also obtained as a product of lecithin hydrolysis. Lecithin was therefore defined as an ester compound of glycerophosphoric acid substituted by two fatty acid radicles with a base, choline, according to the following formula which is generally accepted.

Effect of Tissue Composition on Dose Distribution in Electron Beam Radiotherapy
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of tissue composition on dose distribution in electron beam radiotherapy. Methods: A Siemens Primus linear accelerator and a phantom were simulated using MCNPX Monte Carlo code. In a homogeneous cylindrical phantom, six types of soft tissue and three types of tissue-equivalent materials were investigated. The tissues included muscle (ske...
متن کاملEffects of different levels of phospholipids on fatty acid composition, body lipid content and lipase activity in stellate fish (Acipenser stellatus) stellatus)
Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the effect of different levels of phospholipids on fatty acid profile, lipid content of body and lipase activity in stellate fish (Acipenser stellatus) fed different levels of lecithin as phospholipid source. The fish with average weight of 11.25 ± 0.06 g were fed seven different diets having identical levels of protein and lipid content but dif...
متن کاملPhosphatides in Mouse Epidermis Undergoing Normal and Abnormal Growth Changes.
Silicic acid chromatography was employed to determine the distribution of the phosphatides in mouse epidermis undergoing normal growth changes induced by the hair growth cycle. These included epidermis removed 4, 12, and 22 days after plucking of the hair in both sexes of mice. Furthermore, the distribution of phosphatides was determined in mouse epidermis made hyperplastic by three, eighteen, ...

Background : Soft tissue distraction is an increasingly accepted treatment method in hand surgery which can be applied as a method of contracture release from elbow to proximal phalangeal joints. Common methods have been shown that contracture release alone is not enough and leads to recurrence after a while. Currently, joint and soft tissue distraction and holding them in a proper position i...
متن کاملO-27: Genome Instabilities in Preimplantation Development Leading to Genetic Variation between Tissues of Normal Human Fetuses
Background: Origin of midlife copy number variations (CNVs) between tissues in non-genetic diseases is unknown. Such genomic differences caused by post-zygotic events. They might either happen during the life or due to prevalent mosaicism in preimplantation stage. We aim to explore fetal mosaicism and its origins. Materials and Methods: Two apparently normal fetuses were achieved following the ...
