Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery after Deep Lamellar Keratoplasty: Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose: To report 2 cases that underwent deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) and developed visually significant cataract and subsequently underwent femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). Methods: Both patients underwent FLACS with implantation of toric intraocular lens (IOL) for correction of postkeratoplasty astigmatism. Capsulorrhexis was performed with the femtosecond laser; the nucleus was fragmented and aspirated. Three corneal incisions were performed with the femtosecond laser. In the second case, the angle of the side ports was changed to create a more vertical incision. Results: The preoperative endothelial cell count (ECC) was 1943 and 2446 cells/mm3 for the 1st and 2nd cases respectively and, 1860 and 2356 cell/mm3 for the 1st and 2nd cases postoperatively. At 6 months postoperatively, uncorrected distance visual acuity was 20/30 and 20/20 for the 1st and 2nd cases respectively. Conclusion: Femtolaser treatment of the crystalline lens may increase safety of the surgery in patients underwent deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK).

Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery after penetrating keratoplasty: a case report
BACKGROUND Cataract surgery after penetratingkeratoplasty (PKP) is often challenging due to changes in the integrity of the cornea caused by PKP. For example, corneal endothelial cell (CEC) loss and corneal edema commonly occur after traditional phacoemulsification cataract surgery in patients that previously had successful PKP. Recent studies have reported that femtosecond laser-assisted catar...

Laser technology is used in many basic and clinical disciplines and specialties, and it has played an important role in promoting the development of ophthalmology, especially corneal refractive surgery. We provide an overview of the evolution of laser technology for use in refractive and other ophthalmologic surgeries, mainly focusing on two types of lasers and their applications. First, we dis...

The use of femtosecond lasers has created an evolution in modern corneal and refractive surgery. With accuracy, safety, and repeatability, eye surgeons can utilize the femtosecond laser in almost all anterior refractive procedures; laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), penetrating keratoplasty (PKP), insertion of intracorneal ring segments, anterior ...

PURPOSE To develop a nomogram for femtosecond laser astigmatic keratotomy (AK) to treat post-keratoplasty astigmatism. SETTING Three academic medical centers. DESIGN Retrospective interventional case series. METHODS A review of post-keratoplasty femtosecond laser AK was performed. Uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected (CDVA) distance visual acuities, manifest refraction, and keratometry were r...
