an Asymmetric Spin Hamiltonian Leh-Hun Gwa Department of Mathematics, Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ 08903, USA Herbert Spohn Theoretische Physik, Universit at M unchen Theresienstr. 37, D-8000 M unchen 2, Germany Abstract For a particular choice of vertex weights the two-dimensional six vertex model can be viewed as a probabilistic cellular automaton. Physically it describes then the surface slope of a two-dimensional solid which grows through deposition. Based on this analogy we predict the large scale asymptotics of the vertical polarization correlations. The transfer matrix commutes with a nonsymmetric spin hamiltonian. We diagonalize it using the Bethe ansatz and prove that the dynamical scaling exponent for kinetic roughening is z = 3=2 in 1 + 1 dimensions.

The sl2 loop algebra symmetry of the twisted transfer matrix of the six vertex model at roots of unity

We discuss a family of operators which commute or anti-commute with the twisted transfer matrix of the six-vertex model at q being roots of unity: q = 1. The operators commute with the Hamiltonian of the XXZ spin chain under the twisted boundary conditions, and they are valid also for the inhomogeneous case. For the case of the anti-periodic boundary conditions, we show explicitly that the oper...

Effects of asymmetric stiffness on parametric instabilities of rotor

This work deals with effects of asymmetric stiffness on the dynamic behaviour of the rotor system. The analysis is presented through an extended Lagrangian Hamiltonian mechanics on the asymmetric rotor system, where symmetries are broken in terms of the rotor stiffness. The complete dynamics of asymmetries of rotor system is investigated with a case study. In this work, a mathematical model is ...

Monte Carlo investigation of the Ising model

1 The Ising Model The Ising Model is a simple model of a solid that exhibits a phase transition resembling ferromagnetism. In this model, a “spin direction” is assigned to each vertex on a graph. The standard Hamiltonian for an Ising system includes only nearest-neighbor interactions and each spin direction may be either “up” (+1) or “down” (-1), though generalized models may include long-range...

Interaction of atomic hydrogen with monometallic Au(100), Cu(100), Pt(100) surfaces and surface of bimetallic Au@Cu(100), Au@Pt(100) overlayer systems: The role of magnetism

The spin-polarized calculations in generalized gradient approximation density–functional theory (GGA–DFT) have been used to show how the existence of second metals can modify the atomic hydrogen adsorption on Au (100), Cu (100), and Pt (100) surfaces. The computed adsorption energies for the atomic hydrogen adsorbed at the surface coverage of 0.125 ML (monolayer) for the monometallic Au (100), ...

Correlation Functions of Finite XXZ Model with Boundaries

The finite XXZ model with boundaries is considered. We use the Matrix Product Ansatz (MPA), which was originally developed in the studies on the asymmetric simple exclusion process and the quantum antiferromagnetic spin chain. The MPA tells that the eigenstate of the Hamiltonian is constructed by the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra (ZF-algebra) and the boundary states. We adopt the type I vertex ...
