چکیده

Aneurysm of a single sinus of Valsalva, though rare, is not so rare as to justify a detailed description of a single case. For it is recognized that both syphilis and ulcerative endocarditis may produce aneurysms or aneurysmal dilatations of the sinuses, and the causation is not obscure. In a small number of such aneurysms no evidence of these two causes has been found and it has been suggested that they may be congenital ; at least eleven such cases have been recorded, mostly involving the right (or anterior) sinus only. But aneurysms of all three sinuses of Valsalva are extremely rare. I have been able to find records of only three such cases, and comparison of these with the one here reported suggests that it presents a condition that has not been recorded previously.

Infected aneurysm of sinus of Valsalva. Report of a case with involvement of all three sinuses.

Aneurysm of the sinus of Valsalva is not an uncommon disorder. Its incidence has been estimated at 3 5 per cent of surgical congenital heart diseases, and the condition can be diagnosed with a fair degree of certainty on clinical and haemodynamic grounds and is amenable to surgery in a fair number of cases (Taguchi et al., I969). The majority of the cases show involvement of one, and some cases...

Surviving All Odds: A Unique Case of Multiple Congenital Unruptured Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysms Involving Both Left and Right Coronary Sinuses with Biventricular Dysfunction and Heart Block

Aneurysms of the sinus of Valsalva are very uncommon, with an incidence ranging from 0.1 to 3.5% of all congenital heart defects. Very few cases have been reported in the literature that presented with involvement of two or more sinuses. We report a case of 27-year-old male with a history of exertional breathlessness of one-month duration. After complete evaluation using transesophageal echocar...

پارگی آنوریسم سینوس والسالوای راست به داخل بطن راست در یک خانم 30 ساله با نقص همزمان دیواره بین بطنی

Aneurysms of sinus of Valsalva are rare cardiac abnormalities. They are dilatations of the aortic sinuses and are classified as congenital or acquired. If located in the right coronary sinus they are usually ruptured into right heart chambers and frequently a ventricular septal defect coexists with this condition. This paper reports a 30-year-old woman with ruptured aneurysm of the right sinus ...

Aneurysms of the sinuses of Valsalva.

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysms are rare cardiac anomalies which may be acquired or congenital, most commonly involving the right or noncoronary sinuses. The congenital aneurysms are more common and often caused by weakness at the junction of the aortic media and the annulus fibrosus. Acquired aneurysms are caused by conditions affecting the aortic wall, such as infections (syphilis, bacterial endo...

Congenital aneurysm of the right sinus of Valsalva, diagnosed by aortography.

This paper contains a brief review of the cases, published earlier, of aneurysms of the sinuses of Valsalva, and a case is reported in which the diagnosis was made before rupture of the aneurysm by means of thoracic aortography. No reports are to be found in the literature of the diagnosis of unruptured aortic sinus aneurysms and of the associated clinical findings. Roentgenogramns, aortograms ...
