Ferromagnetic resonance imaging of Co films using magnetic resonance force microscopy

چکیده
Lateral one-dimensional imaging of cobalt ~Co! films by means of microscopic ferromagnetic resonance ~FMR! detected using the magnetic resonance force microscope ~MRFM! is demonstrated. A novel approach involving scanning a localized magnetic probe is shown to enable FMR imaging in spite of the broad resonance linewidth. We introduce a spatially selective local field by means of a small, magnetically polarized spherical crystallite of yttrium iron garnet ~YIG!. Using MRFM-detected FMR signals from a sample consisting of two Co films, we can resolve the ;20 mm lateral separation between the films. The results can be qualitatively understood by consideration of the calculated spatial profiles of the magnetic field generated by the YIG sphere. © 1998 American Vacuum Society. @S0734-211X~98!08204-3#

Ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy on microscopic cobalt single layer films
We report mechanical detection of ferromagnetic resonance ~FMR! signals from microscopic Co single layer thin films using a magnetic resonance force microscope ~MRFM!. Variations in the magnetic anisotropy field and the inhomogeneity of were clearly observed in the FMR spectra of microscopic Co thin films 500 and 1000 Å thick and ;403200 mm in lateral extent. This demonstrates the important pot...

Antiferromagnetically coupled magnetic thin films are promising candidates for the design of new magnetic storage and logic devices. The ability to control the interlayer thickness, therefore the magnetic reversal response, of exchange-coupled magnetic layers is of paramount importance in nanotechnology, especially in magnetic sensing element design and applications. In this work, magnetic forc...

We demonstrate spatial resolution of ferromagnetic resonance in a microscopic sample of YIG using ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy ~FMRFM!. Measurements were performed on a small single crystal YIG film grown on a GGG substrate, roughly rectangular in shape 20 mm3;150 mm and 3 mm thick. The perpendicular and parallel force geometries of FMRFM, in conjunction with an external bias field ...

We introduce the concept of computerized tomographic microscopy in magnetic resonance imaging using the magnetic fields and field gradients from a ferromagnetic probe. We investigate a configuration where a two-dimensional sample is under the influence of a large static polarizing field, a small perpendicular radio-frequency field, and a magnetic field from a ferromagnetic sphere. We demonstrat...
متن کاملObservation of antiferromagnetic coupling in epitaxial ferrite films
Defects in ferrite can change the local magnetic coupling from ferromagnetic to strongly antiferromagnetic. In eptiaxial magnetite Fe3O4 films, defects locally altering exchange interaction, i.e., “antiphase boundaries” APB , essentially determine magnetic and magnetotransport properties. We locally observed specific magnetization reversal events in epitaxial magnetite Fe3− O4/MgO films 0.03 by...
