چکیده

A production system containing a set of machines (also called components) arranged according to a series-parallel configuration is addressed. A set of products must be produced in lots on this production system during a specified finite planning horizon. This paper presents a method for integrating load distribution decisions, and tactical production planning considering the costs of capacity change and the costs of unused capacity. The objective is to minimize the sum of capacity change costs, unused capacity costs, setup costs, holding costs, backorder costs, and production costs. The main constraints consist in satisfying the demand for all products over the entire horizon, and in not exceeding available repair resource. The production series-parallel system is modeled as a multi-state system with binarystate components. The proposed model takes into account the dependence of machines’ failure rates on their load. Universal generating function technique can be used in the optimization algorithm for evaluating the expected system production rate in each period. We show how the formulated problem can be solved by comparing the results of several multi-product lot-sizing problems with capacity associated costs. The importance of integrating load distribution decisions and production planning is illustrated through numerical examples. & 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Heuristic Approach to Solve Production Planning Problem with Machine Failure in a Series Parallel Multi-State System

We consider a production system containing a set of machines which are arranged according to a series-parallel configuration. The machines are unreliable and the failure rate of machine depends on the load assigned to the machine. The expected performance of the system is considered to be a non-monotonic function of its load. The issue of machine failure rate depending upon machine load brings ...

An integrated production and preventive maintenance planning model with imperfect maintenance in multi-state system

Production planning and maintenance are two important problems in manufacturing systems. Despite the relationship exists between these two problems due to sudden failures and production capacity occupied by maintenance activities, each of these problems planned separately and as a result program and model efficiencies reduce in the real world. The aim of integrated production and maintena...

Comparing Parallel Simulated Annealing, Parallel Vibrating Damp Optimization and Genetic Algorithm for Joint Redundancy-Availability Problems in a Series-Parallel System with Multi-State Components

In this paper, we study different methods of solving joint redundancy-availability optimization for series-parallel systems with multi-state components. We analyzed various effective factors on system availability in order to determine the optimum number and version of components in each sub-system and consider the effects of improving failure rates of each component in each sub-system and impr...

A New Continuous Multi-State Reliability Model with Time Dependent Component Performance Rate

A CSS1†is a system with the continues-state components. When a component has the ability to obtain all the situations from completely working to completely failed, it named continues-state component. In the real world, performance rate of elements are continuous and decrease by time. Continuity of components causes infinite working states and grows up the system states. In this paper we propose...

Two-Stage Stochastic Day-Ahead Market Clearing in Gas and Power Networks Integrated with Wind Energy

The significant penetration rate of wind turbines in power systems made some challenges in the operation of the systems such as large-scale power fluctuations induced by wind farms. Gas-fired plants with fast starting ability and high ramping can better handle natural uncertainties of wind power compared to other traditional plants. Therefore, the integration of electrical and natural gas syste...
