MIMO Broadcast Scheduling with Limited Channel State Information

چکیده
We consider the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel in which there arem transmit antennas and n uncoordinated users with a single receive antenna. We examine the maximum throughput in such a system in the scenario when the number of users is much greater than the number of transmit antennas. We derive a lower bound the probability that there exists a set of users such that each user receives a specified rate. We show that through the use of a simple norm-threshold feedback protocol the maximal scaling of the sum rate is achievable and requires channel state information (CSI) about only O(1) users.

Scheduling in Large Scale MIMO Downlink Systems
This dissertation deals with the problem of scheduling in wireless MIMO (MultipleInput Multiple-Output) downlink systems. The focus is on the large-scale systems when the number of subscribers is large. In part one, the problem of user selection in MIMO Broadcast channel is studied. An efficient user selection algorithm is proposed and is shown to achieve the sum-rate capacity of the system asy...
متن کاملA New Approach to User Scheduling in Massive Multi-User MIMO Broadcast Channels
In this paper, a new user-scheduling-and-beamforming method is proposed for multi-user massive multiple-input multiple-output (massive MIMO) broadcast channels in the context of two-stage beamforming. The key ideas of the proposed scheduling method are 1) to use a set of orthogonal reference beams and construct a double cone around each reference beam to select ‘nearly-optimal’ semi-orthogonal ...

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems have the potential to offer high data rates as well as link reliability. Over the past years, MIMO systems have been regarded as firm candidates for future mobile communication standards, both in single user and multiuser modes of operation. The feasibility of these systems in future standards depends in great measure on the a...
متن کاملFrom Single User to Multiuser Communications: Shifting the MIMO Paradigm
In multiuser MIMO networks, the spatial degrees of freedom offered by multiple antennas can be advantageously exploited to enhance the system capacity, by scheduling multiple users to simultaneously share the spatial channel. This entails a fundamental paradigm shift from single user communications, since multiuser systems can experience substantial benefit from channel state information at the...
متن کاملA Design Framework for Scalar Feedback in MIMO Broadcast Channels
Joint linear beamforming and scheduling are performed in a system where limited feedback is present at the transmitter side. The feedback conveyed by each user to the base station consists of channel direction information (CDI) based on a predetermined codebook and a scalar metric with channel quality information (CQI) used to perform user scheduling. In this paper, we present a design framewor...
