چکیده

The application of an electrically conductive diamond material to a new type of grinding wheel whose cutting edges possess electrical conductivity has been tried in this research work. Firstly, electrical discharge machining is applied on a solid surface of an electrically conductive CVD diamond film to create protrusions like cutting edges. Secondly, it is confirmed that the EDMed surface of the diamond material has an ability of stock removing when used in the form of a small lapping wheel. Thirdly, two different types of grinding wheels for micro grinding, i.e. i) a V-shaped profile wheel and ii) a micro mounted wheel, have been manufactured. And it is found that very fine V-shaped grooves can be made on a cemented carbide workpiece by using those wheels with very small wheel wear.

Precision Cutting of Structured Ceramic Molds with Micro PCD Milling Tool

In order to machine micro structured dies and molds made of ceramics, micro milling tools made of poly-crystalline diamond (PCD) are developed. Many cutting edges are ground with diamond wheels. Tool wears of the PCD milling tool are evaluated by cutting spherical molds made of binder-less tungsten carbide and structured surfaces are machined for trial. From the experiments, it is clarified tha...

Fractal Analysis of Grain Cutting Edge Wear in Superabrasive Grinding

Abstract This paper deals with a fractal analysis of the wear behavior of the grain cutting edges in superabrasive grinding. Fundamental overcut fly grinding experiments for producing individual straight grooves using a grinding tool with multiple grits are carried out to clarify the wear characteristics of the grain cutting edges in the grinding process and then the change in three-dimensional...

Analysis of Temperature Distribution in Grinding of Composites Using Finite Element Method

In this investigation, experiments were carried out to understand the influence of various grinding parameters like wheel speed, workspeed and depth of cut on the grinding temperature at the surface of the Al-SiCP composite workpiece with different grinding wheels. The temperature distribution within the workpiece was studied by simulating the grinding process and using finite element analysis ...

Fixed-Load Electrolytic Dressing With Bronze Bonded Grinding Wheels

In electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID), a metal-bonded grinding wheel is dressed as a result of anodic dissolution. In this paper we describe experiments to evaluate the potential for ELID on bronze wheels in fixed-load grinding applications. A constant-force grinding apparatus was used to determine appropriate ELID conditions for a 10-20 \xm bronze bonded diamond grinding wheel used to mac...
