متن کاملMonitoring of Cache Miss Rates for Accurate Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling
Modern mobile processors offer dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, which can be used to reduce the energy requirements of embedded and real-time applications by exploiting idle CPU resources, while still maintaining all applications’ real-time characteristics. However, accurate predictions of task run-times are key to computing the frequencies and voltages that ensure that all tasks’ real-ti...
متن کاملOptimizing Power-Performance Trade-off for Parallel Applications through Dynamic Core and Frequency Scaling
As power consumption being the first order constraint to build microprocessors, they are required to achieve high performance within the strictly limited power budget. For example, capping the peak power consumption is a strongly desired feature in large scale data centers or massive HPC machines. Future many-core processors are expected to host a variety of workloads which have different chara...
متن کاملPerformance and Power-Aware Classification for Frequency Scaling of GPGPU Applications
The increased adoption of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to accelerate modern computational intensive applications, together with the strict power and energy constraints of many computing systems, has pushed for the development of efficient procedures to exploit dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) techniques in GPUs. Although previous works have applied several pattern recognition te...
متن کاملChameleon: Application Controlled Power Management with Performance Isolation
In this paper, we present Chameleon—an application controlled dynamic voltage and frequency scaling approach for reducing energy consumption in mobile processors that see multimedia workloads. Our approach exports the entire responsibility of power management to the application level. Since multimedia applications impose soft real-time constraints, a key goal of our approach is to reduce energy...
