Staircase polygons: moments of diagonal lengths and column heights
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider staircase polygons, counted by perimeter and sums of k-th powers of their diagonal lengths, k being a positive integer. We derive limit distributions for these parameters in the limit of large perimeter and compare the results to Monte-Carlo simulations of self-avoiding polygons. We also analyse staircase polygons, counted by width and sums of powers of their column heights, and we apply our methods to related models of directed walks. dedicated to Tony Guttmann on the occasion of his 60th birthday

Area Distribution and Scaling Function for Punctured Polygons
Punctured polygons are polygons with internal holes which are also polygons. The external and internal polygons are of the same type, and they are mutually as well as self-avoiding. Based on an assumption about the limiting area distribution for unpunctured polygons, we rigorously analyse the effect of a finite number of punctures on the limiting area distribution in a uniform ensemble, where p...
متن کاملInversion Relations, Reciprocity and Polyominoes
We derive self-reciprocity properties for a number of polyomino generating functions, including several families of column-convex polygons, three-choice polygons and staircase polygons with a staircase hole. In so doing, we establish a connection between the reciprocity results known to combinatorialists and the inversion relations used by physicists to solve models in statistical mechanics. Fo...

Formulas about the side lengths, diagonal lengths or radius of the circumcircle of a cyclic polygon in Euclidean geometry, hyperbolic geometry or spherical geometry can be unified.

Counting combinatorial objects and determining the associated generating functions can be computationally very difficult and expensive when using exact numbers. Doing similar calculations modulo a prime can be orders of magnitude faster. We use two simple polygon models to illustrate this: we study the generating functions of (singly) punctured staircase polygons and imperfect staircase polygon...
متن کاملFeasibility of Translaminar Screw Placement in Korean Population: Morphometric Analysis of Cervical Spine
PURPOSE To analyze the feasibility of unilateral and bilateral translaminar screw placement in Koran population, and compare the acceptance rate using previously reported data in American population. MATERIALS AND METHODS The translaminar lengths, thickness, heights, and sagittal-diagonal measurements were performed. The feasibility analysis was performed using unilateral and bilateral 3.5 mm...
