چکیده

Power compensation DSC has been employed to detect and analyse precipitation reactions in an Al1.3Mg-0.4Mn and an Al-1.3Mg-0.4Mn-0.07Cu alloy in which very small amounts of precipitate, less than 0.3 at%, are expected to form. Due to the very small heat effects, baseline instability and drift significantly interfere with the measurements. After repeated experiments and careful baseline correction it is demonstrated that in the Cu containing alloy, ageing at 170°C causes the appearance of two endothermic effects: for 2 days ageing a small dissolution effect appears at about 230°C, whilst for 7 and 21 days ageing a dissolution effect peaking appears at about 300°C. The temperature range of the latter is consistent with S phase dissolution.

Analysis of Precipitation and Dissolution in Overaged 7xxx Aluminium Alloys Using DSC

To improve the understanding of the relation between composition, precipitation and the balance of strength and electrical conductivity (as a measure of the stress-corrosion resistance), a number of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr aluminium alloy plates with different Zn, Mg and Cu contents were produced and studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). It is shown that detailed analysis of the DSC data p...

MECHANISMS OFPRECIPITATES FORMATION IN AN Al- Cu- Li-ZrALLOYUSINGDSC TECHNIQUE AND ELECTRICALRESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS

Abstract: Guinier-Preston (GP) zone formation and precipitation behavior of T1 (Al2CuLi) phase during the ageingof an Al-Cu-Li-Zr alloy was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique and electrical resistancemeasurement of the samples. Results show that endothermic effects in the thermograms of the alloy between 180°Cand 240°C can be related to the enthalpy of GPzones dissolut...

Hot rolled Al-6Li-1Cu-1Mg-0.2Mn (at.%) (Al-1.6Li-2.2Cu-0.9Mg-0.4Mn, wt.%) and Al-6Li-1Cu-1Mg-0.03Zr (at.%) (Al-1.6Li-2.3Cu-1Mg-0.1Zr, wt.%) alloys developed for age forming were studied by tensile testing, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), three-dimensional atom probe (3DAP), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). For both alloys, DSC analysis...

CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF THE Al-Zn-Mg-Cu ALLOYS WITH NICKEL ADDITIONS

In this research, comparative study of corrosion resistance of aluminum based alloys and Al-alloys with nickel have been investigated. Several processes are conducted for the AlZn-Mg-Cu alloys and Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-0.5%Ni alloys were homogenized, aged then retrogressed and reaged; also, alloys were homogenized then the extruded thereafter heat treated. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy and AlZn-Mg-Cu-Ni alloy sample...
