Preparation and study of the inhibitory effect of nano-niosomes containing essential oil from artemisia absinthium on amyloid fibril formation

Objective(s): Artemisia absinthium is an aromatic, perennial small shrub that shows multiple medical benefits, including anticancerous, neuroprotective, antifungal, hepatoprotective, antidepressant and antioxidant properties. One of the effective approaches to treat Alzheimer’s disease is targeting amyloid aggregation by antiamyloid drugs. In the current research study, an excellent grouping of...

Debate Another peep behind the veil

Harris argues that ifQALYs are used only 50% of the population will be eligible for survival, whereas if random methods of allocation are used 100% will be eligible. We argue that this involves an equivocation in the use of "eligible", and provides no support for the random method. There is no advantage in having a 100% chance of being "eligible" for survival behind a veil of ignorance ifyou st...

Anti-amyloidogenic and disaggregating effects of Salvia officinalis in vitro: a strategy to reduce the insulin amyloid fibrils due to repeated subcutaneous injections in diabetic patients

Background: Recently, there has been growing efforts to elucidate the molecular mechanism of amyloid formation and investigating effective compounds for inhibiting of amyloid structures. Investigation of the fibrillation process through its induction and inhibition using specific compounds such as aromatic derivatives provide useful information for stabilizing the protein structure. In the pres...
