Experimental studies of the dissolution of gas bubbles in whole blood and plasma. II. Moving bubbles or liquids.

چکیده
Paxt 1 of the study is concerned with the dissolution of a gas bubble in quiescent. degassed blood and plasma. This paper is an extension of the experimental study to include the case in which the gas bubble dissolves in degassed blood and plasma impinging upon it. Results are compared with those of part I and the effects of relative motion between the bubble and the liquid are examined. It is disclosed from the comparison that the speed at which the bubble dissolves into the liquid is accelerated as the velocity of the flowing liquid is increased. The applications of the study include the dissolution of gas emboli in the human body and the extracorporeal oxygenation of the blood during open heart surgery.

Gas bubbles of oxygen. carbon dioxide and nitrogen are injected into the degassed plasma and whole blood. The bubble size is measured at time intervals until the bubble is completely dissolved in the liquid. Physical quantities governing the dissolution of gas bubbles are identified and their effects are examined. The applications of the study include the dissolution of gas emboli in human body...
متن کاملEffect of inhomogeneities on streamer propagation: II. Streamer dynamics in high pressure humid air with bubbles
The branching of electric discharge streamers in atmospheric pressure air, dense gases and liquids is a common occurrence whose origins are likely found with many causes, both deterministic and stochastic. One mechanism for streamer branching may be inhomogeneities in the path of a streamer which either divert the streamer (typically a region of lower ionization) or produce a new branch (a regi...
متن کاملStock Market Bubbles and Business Cycles: A DSGE Model for the Iranian Economy
T his paper investigates the movement between stock market bubbles and fluctuations in aggregate variables within a DSGE model for the Iranian economy. We apply a new Keynesian monetary framework with nominal rigidity in wages and prices based on the study by Ikeda (2013), which is developed with appropriate framework for the Iranian economy. We consider central bank behavior differe...
متن کاملGrowth by rectified diffusion of strongly acoustically forced gas bubbles in nearly saturated liquids.
The growth or dissolution of small gas bubbles (R0<15 microm) by rectified diffusion in nearly saturated liquids, subject to low frequencies (20 kHz<f<100 kHz) and high driving acoustic fields (1 bar<p<5 bars), is investigated theoretically. It is shown that, in such conditions, the rectified diffusion threshold radius merges with the Blake threshold radius, which means that a growing bubble is...
متن کاملDissolution without disappearing: multicomponent gas exchange for CO2 bubbles in a microfluidic channel.
We studied the dissolution dynamics of CO2 gas bubbles in a microfluidic channel, both experimentally and theoretically. In the experiments, spherical CO2 bubbles in a flow of a solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) first shrink rapidly before attaining an equilibrium size. In the rapid dissolution regime, the time to obtain a new equilibrium is 30 ms regardless of SDS concentration, and the...
