THERMOLUMINESCENCE AND OXYGEN EVOLUTION IN JA-TREATED BARLEY (Hordeum vulgare L.)

چکیده
The effect of jasmonic acid on PSII reactions was assessed by changes in kinetic characteristics of O2 evolution and thermoluminesce glow curves in barley leaves and isolated thylakoid membranes. In comparison to the control preparation, JA-treated samples showed reduced efficiency in the utilization of oxidizing equivalents generated at PSII reaction centres and retardation of S-state transitions. S2 and S3 states in JA-treated samples were found to be significantly unstabilized.

Experimental evidence for ascorbate-dependent electron transport in leaves with inactive oxygen-evolving complexes.
Previously, we showed that in barley (Hordeum vulgare) leaves with heat-inactivated oxygen-evolving complexes, photosystem II (PSII) has access to a large pool of alternative electron donors. Based on in vitro data, we proposed that this donor was ascorbate, yet this hypothesis has not been substantiated in vivo. In this paper, with the aid of chlorophyll a fluorescence induced by short (5-ms) ...

Herbicide, Inhibition, Photosynthetic Electron Transport, Trifluralin, Thermoluminescence The effect of trifluralin on the photosynthetic electron transport has been investigated by oxygen evolution and thermoluminescence measurements. The results confirm the earlier observations that trifluralin at low concentrations blocks electron transport between the two photosystems probably at the same s...
متن کاملThermoluminescence and Oxygen Evolution from a Thermophilic Blue-green Alga Obtained after Single-turnover Light Flashes*
Oxygen evolution and thermoluminescence (TL) studies on a thermophilic blue-green alga Synechococcus vulcanus Copeland revealed the following: (a) The deactivations of the S3 and Sz states of the Oxygen Evolving Complex, at room temperature, have half-times of -200 and 75 s, respectively, instead of 30 and 20 s found in mesophilic plants. (b) The TL band(s) “B”, due to the recombination of the ...
متن کاملInhibition of the Water Splitting System in the Green Alga Chlorella Vulgaris
The effect of sodium chloride on the photosynthetic electron transport chain was investigated in the freshwater green alga Chlorella vulgaris. It was found that the rate of oxygen evolution under steady state and flash light conditions diminished by increasing salt concentrations. Salt treatment of cells also decreased the fluorescence and delayed luminescence yields. However, the fluorescence ...

The effect of photoinhib i t ion on the pr imary ( O a ) and secondary ( O b ) quinone acceptors of photosystem I I was investigated in isolated spinach thylakoids by the methods of thermoluminescence and delayed luminescence. The amplitudes of the Q (at about 2 °C) and B (at about 30 °C) thermoluminescence bands which are associated w i th the recombination of the S ;OA and S2QB charge pairs, ...
