Assessment of nonviable myocardium due to Bland-White-Garland syndrome using contrast-enhanced MRI.

چکیده
The left coronary artery originating from the pulmonary trunk is a rare congenital anomaly, known as Bland-White-Garland syndrome (BWGS). Most patients with this anomaly of the coronary artery system die during early childhood (Wesslhoeft et al., 1968). In this case report, we describe an adult patient with nonviable myocardium most likely due to chronic ischemia. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of late myocardial enhancement caused by BWGS detected by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR).

Single breath-hold assessment of cardiac function using an accelerated 3D single breath-hold acquisition technique - comparison of an intravascular and extravascular contrast agent
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is the current gold standard for the assessment of left ventricular (LV) function. Repeated breath-holds are needed for standard multi-slice 2D cine steady-state free precession sequences (M2D-SSFP). Accelerated single breath-hold techniques suffer from low contrast between blood pool and myocardium. In this study an intravascular contrast agen...
متن کاملA long-term survivor of Bland-White-Garland syndrome with systemic collateral supply: A case report and review of the literature
BACKGROUND Bland-White-Garland syndrome (anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery) is a rare disease which may result in myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure and sometimes death during the early infantile period. CASE PRESENTATION A successfully treated case of a 45-year-old mother of 2 children with Bland-White-Garland syndrome and concomitant severe ...
متن کاملMyocardial viability: magnetic resonance assessment of functional reserve and tissue characterization.
The determination of myocardial viability is crucial in patients with left ventricular dysfunction resulting from acute myocardial ischemia or chronic coronary artery disease. Viable myocardium will most likely benefit from revascularization procedures. However, the revascularization of scar tissue will not lead to improvement of ventricularfunction andfurthermore bears unnecessary riskfor the ...
متن کاملMechanical circulatory support after surgical repair of Bland-White-Garland syndrome. A study of three cases
The anomalous origin of the left coronary artery arising from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA), also known as Bland-White-Garland (BWG) syndrome, is a rare congenital heart disease. We present cases of three children in whom BWG syndrome was repaired surgically. In two of them, the left coronary artery was transplanted from the pulmonary trunk to the aorta, and in one, the Takeuchi procedure was p...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the agreement between prostate tumour volume determined using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and that determined by histological assessment, using detailed software-assisted co-registration. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 37 patients who underwent 3T multiparametric MRI (T2-weighted imaging [T2WI], diffusion-weighted imaging [DWI]/apparent diffusion c...
