Non-Invasive Measurement of Systemic Haemodynamics by Finometry in Patients with Cirrhosis

چکیده
Kowalski and Abelmann originally described the hyperdynamic circulation associated with cirrhosis in 1953, which is characterised by an increased cardiac output, heart rate, and stroke volume and reduced peripheral vascular resistance [1]. The hyperdynamic circulation of cirrhosis is characterised by increased cardiac output and decreased systemic vascular resistance being independently associated with portal pressure [2-5]. In cirrhotic patients these haemodynamic parameters may be a good marker of the development of portal hypertension and its complications. Traditionally, measurement of cardiac output is by the thermodilution method, but it is invasive carrying significant complication risks. The Finometer® Finapres Medical Systems, Amsterdam, The Netherlands is a non-invasive device for measuring systemic haemodynamics, that allows continuous beat-to-beat blood pressure and haemodynamic monitoring utilising a volume-clamp from which aortic flow waveform can Non-Invasive Measurement of Systemic Haemodynamics by Finometry in Patients with Cirrhosis

Cardiac function and haemodynamics in alcoholic cirrhosis and effects of the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunt.
BACKGROUND A portosystemic stent shunt may impair cardiac function and haemodynamics. AIMS To investigate the effects of a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) on cardiac function and pulmonary and systemic circulation in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis. PATIENTS/METHODS 17 patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and recent variceal bleeding were evaluated by echocardiography an...

INTRODUCTION Patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure show an aggravated hyperdynamic circulation. We evaluated, in a controlled manner, potential changes in systemic haemodynamics induced by the molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS) and the Prometheus system liver detoxification devices in a group of patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure. METHODS Eighteen patients (51.2 ...

This article reviews the development of non-invasive optical techniques for determination of blood glucose concentrations in diabetic patients. Early diagnosis and daily management are essential for ensuring the healthy life of diabetic patients. The determination of blood glucose concentration with common devices involves the chemical analysis of blood samples, which are obtained by pricking t...
متن کاملAssessment of autonomic nervous system function in patients with non-alcoholic cirrhosis
Automatic dysfunction may contribute to the hemodynamic disturbances in cirrhosis. Tests of autonomic function were performed in 31 patients with non-alcoholic cirrhosis and 30 healthy subjects. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to child- Pugh,s classification ( A.B.C). The patients with moderate and severe cirrhosis( child B,C) had significant parasympathetic disturbance ( in the v...
