چکیده

Current ASTM standards can be used to provide a degree of characterization of geopolymeric materials, yet the researcher must be aware of differences between hydraulic and geopolymer cementitious materials. The current study assessed the applicability of available ASTM standards that analyze the insoluble content and oxide content of cementitious materials (ASTM C114 and C311), compressive strength (ASTM C109), leaching (ASTM C1308), and setting time (ASTM C403). It was found that the speciation of sulfur is important in fly ash precursors and can be determined using ASTM C114’s determination of sulfur trioxide content. The speciation of sulfur, unburned carbon content and particle size are important parameters for the characterization of a geopolymer precursor. Furthermore, the dissolution of geopolymer precursors should be assessed at appropriate basic pH levels to determine the content of insoluble materials. The curing conditions and resulting geopolymer microstructure must be characterized (via FT-IR) and regulated to achieve consistency across research studies on geopolymer cements.

Taftan Pozzolan-Based Geopolymer Cement

Abstract: In recent years, many research works have been done to investigate the possibility of utilizing a broad range of materials as raw materials in the production of geopolymer cements. The use of artificial pozzolans or aluminosilicate-type industrial waste materials such as granulated blast-furnace slag and fly ash has been reported in many research works. Natural pozzolans are also al...

Production geopolymer materials by coal fly ash

Coal ash is the main waste from power plant. It is estimated that the consumption of the coal for power plant will increase to 240 million tons each year and the coal ash wastes will produce more than 2 million tons per year. Although the utilization of coal fly ash can be reached 74.1%, large amount of coal fly ash and bottom ash still cannot be utilized. The purpose of this research is to dev...

Effect of Fly Ash Fineness on Sorption Properties of Geopolymers Based On Liquid Glass

Abstract—Fly ash (FA) thanks to the significant presence of SiO2 and Al2O3 as the main components is a potential raw material for geopolymers production. Mechanical activation is a method for improving FA reactivity and also the porosity of final mixture; those parameters can be analysed through sorption properties. They have direct impact on the durability of fly ash based geopolymer mortars. ...

Influence Of Curing Conditions on Geopolymer Leaching

The worldwide production of PCC fly ash is estimated at achieving 800 million tonnes per year in 2010 [1]. European Union regulations aim at developing new technologies focused on the recycling of these large amounts of PCC fly ash into added-value products. The synthesis of geopolymer binders may be a successful alternative, giving rise to low-cost and environmentally friendly materials with c...
