چکیده

Background The silicon tetrahydride or silanes is an inorganic colourless gas with spontaneous combustion in air at room temperature [1–3]. Silane or functionalized silanes has widely industrial and medical applications, and works as coupling and impermeabilizing agent. Silane coupling agents have also been applied to bond glass and carbon fibers to polymer matrices, creating a strong adhesion of fibers and filler particles to the polymer matrix [4, 5]. In Dentistry, silane coupling agents is applied to bond filler particles to resin monomers of restorative composites and also to prepare all-ceramic restorations for adhesive cementation [6]. The superficial treatments of minerals and glass fillers become them more Abstract

The Effect of Lithium Disilicate Ceramic Thickness and Translucency on Shear Bond Strength of Light-cured Resin Cement

Introduction: To achieve acceptable clinical performance, a ceramic veneer must be bonded to enamel by well-polymerized resin cement. Among different factors, thickness and translucency of the ceramic may affect the resin cement polymerization. Thus, the current study evaluated the effect of the thickness and translucency of lithium disilicate ceramic on light-cured resin cement bond strength t...

Silanated Surface Treatment: Effects on the Bond Strength to Lithium Disilicate Glass-Ceramic.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of silanization protocols on the bond strength of two resin cements to a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic. Thirty-two ceramic discs were assigned to 2 groups (n=16): G1 - dual-cured resin cement and G2 - light-cured resin cement. Four subgroups were evaluated according to the used silanization protocol. The glass-ceramic was etched with 10% hydro...

Silanization effect on microtensile bond strength of a self-adhesive luting material to a disilicate- based glass ceramic

Introduction: The rehabilitation of teeth by means of ceramic indirect restorations has been widely performed. Previous studies has shown the effectiveness of silane coupling agents on improving the bond strength of the adhesion of resin cements to ceramics; however, some studies question the use of silane. Objective: To evaluate the effect of silane application on the microtensile bond strengt...

Influence of silane and heated silane on the bond strength of lithium disilicate ceramics - An in vitro study

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effect of silane application and silane heat treatment on lithium-disilicate ceramic when bonded to composite resin. METHODS Twelve blocks of lithium-disilicate (LD) ceramic were fabricated and bonding surfaces were etched using 9.5% hydrofluoric acid (90 seconds). Three experimental groups resulted from the various surface treatment combinations, which included, no...
