چکیده
the Canadian Environmental Protection Act Priority List for reduction in the environment. Public health concerns arose among the James Bay Cree due to bioaccumulation of cadmium through the food chain into caribou, deer and moose meat, particularly the organs. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources currently warns hunters not to eat deer and moose organs. Along with occupational exposure, smoking also raises blood cadmium (CdB) levels due to high cadmium concentrations in Canadian cigarettes. We investigated the determinants of CdB in Southern Ontario anglers and hunters.

Re-evaluation of blood mercury, lead and cadmium concentrations in the Inuit population of Nunavik (Québec): a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Arctic populations are exposed to mercury, lead and cadmium through their traditional diet. Studies have however shown that cadmium exposure is most often attributable to tobacco smoking. The aim of this study is to examine the trends in mercury, lead and cadmium exposure between 1992 and 2004 in the Inuit population of Nunavik (Northern Québec, Canada) using the data obtained from t...

One-hundred twenty-three gizzards from upland game birds (chukar, Alectoris chukar; and common pheasant, Phasianus colchicus) harvested by hunters in southern Ontario, Canada, were examined for lead pellet ingestion by manual examination of gizzard contents and by radiography. Lead pellets were found to be ingested by chukars (6/76; 8%) and the common pheasant (16/47; 34%). Further, 13% (17/129...
متن کاملA survey to evaluate the association between blood lead level and blood pressure among workers employed in factory manufacturing lead acid-storage batteries
Background: There are many controversies reported about the association between blood lead levels and blood pressure among lead exposed workers. Studies have suggested incorporating lifestyle factors along with blood lead levels. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of lead exposure on blood pressure changes among lead exposed workers in contemplation of lifestyle factors. Mater...
