چکیده

Context: This research deals with requirements elicitation technique selection for software product requirements and the overselection of open interviews. Objectives: This paper proposes and validates a framework to help requirements engineers select the most adequate elicitation techniques at any time. Method: We have explored both the existing underlying theory and the results of empirical research to build the framework. Based on this, we have deduced and put together justified proposals about the framework components. We have also had to add information not found in theoretical or empirical sources. In these cases, we drew on our own experience and expertise. Results: A new validated approach for requirements technique selection. This new approach selects techniques other than open interview, offers a wider range of possible techniques and captures more requirements information. Conclusions: The framework is easily extensible and changeable. Whenever any theoretical or empirical evidence for an attribute, technique or adequacy value is unearthed, the information can be easily added to the framework. 2014 Elsevier B.V. The Overreliance on Analyst Experience in the Selection of Requirements Elicitation Techniques

This study applies Channel Expansion Theory to assess the factors that influence analyst selection and use of a requirements elicitation techniques. The findings from a cross-sectional survey show that an analyst’s experience with a requirements elicitation technique is the strongest predictor of perceived richness from using that technique. Experience with the informant was only marginally sig...

Requirements Elicitation and Elicitation Technique Selection: A Model for Two Knowledge-Intensive Software Development Processes

By its very nature, software development consists of many knowledge-intensive processes. One of the most difficult to model, however, is requirements elicitation. This paper presents a mathematical model of the requirements elicitation process that clearly shows the critical role of knowledge in its performance. One metaprocess of requirements elicitation, selection of an appropriate elicitatio...

Eliciting requirements for an inter-company cooperative information system

Purpose – Requirements Engineering (RE) process constitutes the earliest phase of the information system development life-cycle. Requirements elicitation is considered as one of the most critical activities of this phase. Moreover, requirements elicitation is still a challenge, especially in the distributed environment of so-called inter-company cooperative information system. The purpose of th...

A Methodology for the Selection of Requirement Elicitation Techniques

In this paper, we present an approach to select a subset of requirement elicitation technique for an optimum result in the requirement elicitation process. Our approach consists of three steps. First, we identify various attribute in three important dimensions namely project, people and the process of software development that can influence the outcome of an elicitation process. Second, we cons...

The Overreliance on Analyst Experience in the Selection of Requirements Elicitation Techniques

This study applies theory Channel Expansion Theory to assess factors that influence analyst perceptions of the richness of requirements elicitation techniques. These perceptions of richness are of interest as communication research has shown that richness perceptions are related to selection and effective use of communication channels. We find that an analyst’s experience with a requirements el...
