Instant Abdominal Wall Reconstruction with Biologic Mesh following Resection of Locally Advanced Colonic Cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a case of immediate abdominal wall reconstruction with biologic mesh following the resection of locally advanced colonic cancer. The tumor in the right colon did not respond to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Surgical enbloc excision, including excision of the invasion in the abdominal wall, was achieved, and the defect was reconstructed with porcine dermal collagen mesh. The patient was discharged with no complication, and adaptation of the mesh was excellent at the six-month followup.

Locally Advanced Colon Cancer with Abdominal Wall Abscess: A Challenging Case Treated by an Innovative Approach
Colon cancer rarely combines with abscess of the abdominal wall. We here describe a case treated by extensive surgery, biological mesh abdominal wall repair and negative pressure therapy. A 58-year-old woman presented with a locally advanced right colon cancer with abdominal wall abscess and no evidence of distant metastasis. Extended right hemicolectomy was performed with en-bloc excision of t...
متن کاملColon carcinoma metastases with extension to chest wall and pericardium
Management of locally advanced colon cancer metastases is challenging and operation carries an increased risk of morbidity and mortality. The knowledge of exact sites of involvement can aid the surgeon to make a decision regarding complete resection or palliative therapy. PET/CT scan is an advantage in this setting because metabolic alterations often precede the anatomic changes; moreover, it c...
متن کاملGiant Abdominal Wall Desmoid Tumor: Surgical Resection and Combined Reconstruction with Biological and Synthetic Prostheses
Introduction: Desmoid fibromatosis is an extremely rare but locally aggressive soft tissue tumor. When radical resection is indicated, the surgical team faces the challenge of abdominal wall reconstruction, for which optimal technique is still debated. We present the case of a giant abdominal wall desmoid tumor identified in the ante-partum period, showing a growth in the post-partum period whi...
متن کاملLiver parenchymal sparing surgery for locally advanced gallbladder cancer with extracapsular lymph node invasion
A complete R0 resection is the standard treatment in patients with gallbladder cancer and the only potentially definitive curative therapy. Major hepatectomy, including right or extended right hepatectomy with extrahepatic bile duct resection, would be an option in patients with locally advanced gallbladder cancer, while morbidity and mortality rate are still high. Herein, we report a case of a...
متن کاملFibromatosis in vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap imitating tumor recurrence after surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer: case report.
BACKGROUND Abdominoperineal excision is performed in patients with locally advanced, low rectal carcinoma. Reconstruction of the dorsal vagina and perineum using the vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap following extensive surgery results in favorable surgical outcome and quality of life. However, the rectus abdominis muscle, as part of the anterior abdominal wall, may develop fibrous le...
