چکیده

Low Power Architecture and Circuit Techniques for High Boost Wideband Gm-C Filters. (May 2006) Manisha Gambhir, B.E. Delhi University Co-Chairs of Advisory Committee: Dr. Edgar Sanchez-Sinencio Dr. Jose Silva-Martinez With the current trend towards integration and higher data rates, read channel design needs to incorporate significant boost for a wider signal bandwidth. This dissertation explores the analog design problems associated with design of such ‘Equalizing Filter’ (boost filter) for read channel applications. Specifically, a 330MHz, 5 order Gm-C continuous time lowpass filter with 24dB boost is designed. Existing architectures are found to be unsuitable for low power, wideband and high boost operation. The proposed solution realizes boosting zeros by efficiently combining available transfer functions associated with all nodes of cascaded biquad cells. Further, circuit techniques suitable for high frequency filter design are elaborated such as: application of the Gilbert cell as a variable transconductor and a new Common-Mode-Feedback (CMFB) error amplifier that improves common mode accuracy without compromising on bandwidth or circuit complexity. A prototype is fabricated in a standard 0.35μm CMOS process. Experimental results show -41dB of IM3 for 250mV peak to peak swing with 8.6mW/pole of power dissipation.

Low Dropout Based Noise Minimization of Active Mode Power Gated Circuit

Power gating technique reduces leakage power in the circuit. However, power gating leads to large voltage fluctuation on the power rail during power gating mode to active mode due to the package inductance in the Printed Circuit Board. This voltage fluctuation may cause unwanted transitions in neighboring circuits. In this work, a power gating architecture is developed for minimizing power in a...

Ultra-Wideband Low-Noise Amplifier and Six-Port Transceiver for High Speed Data Transmission

Today’s data rates in wired networks can reach 100 Gbit/s using optical fiber while data rates in wireless networks are much lower tens of Mbit/s for 3G mobile communication and 480 Mbit/s for ultra-wideband (UWB) short range wireless communications. This difference in data rates can mainly be explained by the limited allowed frequency spectrum, the nature of the radio signal and the high requi...

AMM & NS programme Complex Low - Pass Integrated Active Filter for Direct - Conversion Transceiver for

Project Abstract : Direct-Conversion is an alternative wireless transceiver architecture to the well-established super heterodyne, particularly for highly integrated, low power terminals. Direct-Conversion transceivers suffer from the imbalance of the I and Q paths. By using a complex low-pass filter topology instead of a conventional pair of real low-pass filters, this imperfection can be redu...

Implementation of a programmable neuron in CNTFET technology for low-power neural networks

Circuit-level implementation of a novel neuron has been discussed in this article. A low-power Activation Function (AF) circuit is introduced in this paper, which is then combined with a highly linear synapse circuit to form the neuron architecture. Designed in Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor (CNTFET) technology, the proposed structure consumes low power, which makes it suitable for the...
