On Formalisms And Analysis, Generation And Synthesis In Machine Translation
نویسنده
چکیده
A formalism is a set of notation with well-defined semantics (namely for the interpretation of the symbols used and their manipulation), by means of which one formally expresses certain domain knowledge, which is to be utilised for specific purposes. In this paper, we are interested in formalisms which are being used or have applications in the domain of machine translation (MT). These can range from specialised languages for linguistic programming (SLLPs) in NIT, like ROBRA in the ARIANE system and GRADE in the Mu-system, to linguistic formalisms like those of the Government and Binding theory and the Lexical Functional Grammar theory. Our interest lies mainly in their role in the domain in terms of the ease in expressing linguistic knowledge required for MT, as well as the ease of implementation in NIT systems.

A new model for persian multi-part words edition based on statistical machine translation
Multi-part words in English language are hyphenated and hyphen is used to separate different parts. Persian language consists of multi-part words as well. Based on Persian morphology, half-space character is needed to separate parts of multi-part words where in many cases people incorrectly use space character instead of half-space character. This common incorrectly use of space leads to some s...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of English-Persian Translation of Neural Google Translation
Many studies abroad have focused on neural machine translation and almost all concluded that this method was much closer to humanistic translation than machine translation. Therefore, this paper aimed at investigating whether neural machine translation was more acceptable in English-Persian translation in comparison with machine translation. Hence, two types of text were chosen to be translated...
متن کاملThe Correlation of Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics with Human Judgement on Persian Language
Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics (MTEMs) are the central core of Machine Translation (MT) engines as they are developed based on frequent evaluation. Although MTEMs are widespread today, their validity and quality for many languages is still under question. The aim of this research study was to examine the validity and assess the quality of MTEMs from Lexical Similarity set on machine tra...
متن کاملGeneration Of Synthes Is Programs In Robra (Ariane) From String-Tree Correspondence Grammars (or a Strategy for Synthesis in Machine Translation)
Specialised Languages for Linguistic Programming, or SLLPs (like ROBRA, Osystems, Augmented Transition Networks, etc.), in Machine Translation (MT) systems may be considerably efficient in terms of processing power, but its procedural nature makes it quite difficult for linguists to describe natural languages in a declarative and natural way. Furthermore, the effort can be quite wasteful in the...
متن کاملITS: Interactive Translation System
ITS is a second-generation machine translation system. Processing is divided into three major steps: analysis, transfer, and synthesis. Analysis is generally independent of the target language, and synthesis is nearly independent of the source language. The transfer step is dependent on both source and target languages. The intermediate representation produced by analysis, adjusted by transfer,...
