چکیده

The task of electrical impedance tomography is to invert electrical boundary measurements for the conductivity distribution of a body. This inverse problem can be formulated so the primary data are the measured powers dissipated across injection electrodes. Then, since these powers are minima of the pertinent variational principles (Dirichlet's or Thomson's principle), feasibility constraints can be formulated for the nonlinear inversion problem. These constraints may also be used to stabilize iterative reconstruction algorithms where voltage diier-ences across other electrodes are the primary data and the measured powers are treated only as secondary data. When the powers may be measured accurately, the existence of these dual variational principles implies that an exact solution (if any) must lie at a point of intersection of the two feasibility boundaries.

Variationally constrained numerical solution of electrical impedance tomography

We propose a novel, variational inversion methodology for the electrical impedance tomography (EIT) problem, where we seek electrical conductivityσ inside a bounded, simply connected domain , given simultaneous measurements of electric currents I and corresponding potentials V at the boundary. Explicitly, we make use of natural, variational constraints on the space of admissible functions σ , t...

Seismic Crosshole Tomography and Nonlinear Constrained Optimization

When an inverse problem can be formulated so the data are minima of one of the variational problems of mathematical physics, feasibility constraints can be found for the nonlinear inversion problem. These constraints guarantee that optimal solutions of the inverse problem lie in the convex feasible region of the model space. Furthermore, points on the boundary of this convex region can be found...

An Introduction to Electrical Impedance Tomography

The inverse problem of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is that of imaging a spatially varying, complex admittivity function γ(x, ω) in a domain Ω ⊂ I R (n = 2 or 3), given measurements of low frequency ω alternating electrical currents and potentials at the boundary ∂Ω. The real and imaginary parts of admittivity γ(x, ω) are the electrical conductivity σ(x) and ω (x), respectively, where ...

Electrical impedance tomography using level set representation and total variational regularization

In this paper, we propose a numerical scheme for the identification of piecewise constant conductivity coefficient for a problem arising from electrical impedance tomography. The key feature of the scheme is the use of level set method for the representation of interface between domains with different values of coefficients. Numerical tests show that our method can recover sharp interfaces and ...
