Lot sizing with permissible delay in payments and entropy cost

چکیده

Although the lot size problem (i.e., the economic order quantity model) has been widely accepted and used by researchers and practitioners, it has also been criticized by others on the grounds that not accounting for some of the hidden costs in inventory systems often lead to poor results. This paper postulates that estimating these hidden costs may be attained by applying the first and second laws of thermodynamics to reduce system entropy (or disorder) at a cost. The applicability of this concept is demonstrated for the economic lot size problem with permissible delay in payments. Mathematical models are developed with numerical examples provided and results discussed. 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Retailer’s EOQ Model with Limited Storage Space Under Partially Permissible Delay in Payments

The main purpose of this paper wants to investigate the optimal retailer’s lot-sizing policy with two warehouses under partially permissible delay in payments within the economic order quantity (EOQ) framework. In this paper, we want to extend that fully permissible delay in payments to the supplier would offer the retailer partially permissible delay in payments. That is, the retailer must mak...

An inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, delay in payments and time value money

In this paper, Economic Order Quantity ( ) based model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, permissible delay in payments and inflation is proposed. We adopt a time-dependent demand function. Also, the effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. Moreover, we assume that orders may contain a random proportion of defective items...

Retailer’s Economic Ordering Quantity under Partial Payments Delay: an Algebraic Approach

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the optimal retailer’s lot-sizing decisions under partial payments delay within the economic order quantity (EOQ) framework. All previously published models concerned with payments delay assumed that the supplier would offer the retailer fully payments delay. However, in this paper, we assume that the supplier would offer the retailer partial pay...

An Economic Lot Sizing Production Model for Deteriorating Items under Two Level Trade Credit

This paper develops an economic lot-sizing production model for deteriorating items with time dependent quadratic demand and delay in payments under two levels of trade credit policy. The trade credit policy adopted here is a two-level trade credit policy in which the supplier offers the retailer a permissible delay period M, and the retailer in turn provides customers a permissible delay perio...

An Inventory Model for Obsolescence Items with Consideration of Permissible Delay in Payments (Case Study of Obsolete Medicines in Pharmacies)

Background and Objectives: In the real world, the obsolescence items are some items that lose their value over time due to the emergence of new technology. Because of rapid changes in technology, inventory management of such items is considered in recent years. Moreover, suppliers try to encourage the retailers for purchasing an item before it is outmoded with some policies suc...
