چکیده

Materials Two soybean oils, partially hydrogenated (IV 119120) in a 2 liter Parr hydrogenator with laboratoryprepared catalysts containing copper (8) at 30 psi and 170 (sample A) and 200 C (sample B), respectively, were used in this investigation. Samples of each were transesterified in methanol with sodium methoxide catalyst, and the methyl esters were distilled under vacuum. Analvses of these esters are shown in Table 1. •

Selective Hydrogenation of Soybean Oil: XII. Trialkyl Aluminum-Copper 'Stearate Homogeneous Catalysts'

The reaction of copper stearate with triethylaluminurn (TEAL) formed a soluble catalyst that promoted the selective hydrogenation of the linolenyl groups in soybean oil. This homogeneous catalyst was more active than copper-chromite. The activity was enhanced by the addition of silica, alumina or titania. Ethyl alcohol accelerated the hydrogenation when it was added in small amounts and retarde...

Pilot-Plant Selective Hydrogenation of Soybean Oil: Activation and Evaluation of Copper-Containing Catalysts

In pilot-plant tests, the linolenate content of soybean oil was reduced to less than 1% without increasing the saturates, by hydrogenation to an IV of about 115 with an active copper-chromite catalyst. The linolenate-linoleate selectivity ratio (KLe/KLo ) was from 9 to 12. Several commercial copper-chromite catalysts were used in hydrogenation tests. The activities of four of five commercial ca...

Copper-Hydrogenated Soybean and Linseed Oils: Composition, Organoleptic Quality and Oxidative Stability'

Copper and nickel hydrogenations give a wide distribution of double bonds in the monoene fraction from both reduced soybean and linseed oils. With copper catalysts, high pressure hydrogenation reduces the extent of this double bond distribution when compared with low pressure hydrogenation. With nickel catalysts, some t.17-octadecenoate is formed but less than with a copper catalyst. In room od...

Mesoporous Aluminosilicates as Catalyst Supports for Conjugated Linoleic Acid Formation by Hydrogenation/Isomerisation of Safflower Oil

Introduction During catalytic hydrogenation of vegetable oils, some of the naturally occurring cis double bonds are isomerized to trans fatty acids (TFA). High levels of trans fats in the diet are linked to higher occurrence of coronary health diseases [1]. However, all trans fatty acids are not harmful, some conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) isomers are reported to have anticarcinogenic, -atherog...

Storage Stability of Soybean Oil-Based Salad Dressings: Effects of Antioxidants and Hydrogenation

Flavor deterioration of salad dressings was investigated to determine the effect of hydrogenation of the oil. additives and storage conditions. Flavor quality tests were developed and correlated with gas chromatographic analyses of volatile compounds in oils separated from the dressings. Hydrogenation of soybean oil with copper and nickel catalysts effectively increased the storage stability of...
