Driveline Modeling and Principles for Speed Control and Gear-Shift Control
نویسنده
چکیده
i Abstract A vehicular driveline consists of engine, clutch, transmission, shafts, and wheels, which are controlled by a driveline management system. Experiments and modeling using a heavy truck show that there are significant torsional resonances in the driveline. A linear model with a drive shaft flexibility is able to sufficiently explain the measured engine speed and wheel speed. Engine control for automatic gear shifting is an approach at the leading edge of technology. A critical step is the controlling of the engine such that the transmission transfers zero torque, whereafter neutral gear can be engaged. Driveline oscillations is a limiting factor in this system. A model of the transmission torque is developed and a state-feedback controller is used to drive this torque to zero. The result is a possibility to optimize the time needed for a gear shift. Furthermore, neutral gear can successfully be engaged also when facing load disturbances and initial driveline oscillations. Traditionally in diesel trucks, the engine speed is controlled by a system called RQV. This system has the desired property of a load dependent stationary error, and the undesired property of vehicle shuffle following a change in pedal position. A model based state-feedback controller is derived that actively reduces wheel speed oscillations. The performance and driveability is significantly improved, while maintaining the desired load characteristics for RQV control. In conclusion, the proposed strategies improve performance and driveability in both speed control and gear-shift control.A vehicular driveline consists of engine, clutch, transmission, shafts, and wheels, which are controlled by a driveline management system. A vehicular driveline is the system used to transfer engine torque to the wheels. Resonances in the elastic parts of the driveline are important to handle when control of the engine and the transmission is optimized. Gear shifting by engine control is a new approach for automatic gear shifting with disengaging the clutch replaced by engine control. Resonances are excited in an uncontrolled driv...
متن کاملImproved Functionality for Driveability During Gear-shift A Predictive Model for Boost Pressure Drop
Automated gear-shifts are critical procedures for the driveline as they are demanded to work as fast and accurate as possible. The torque control of a driveline is especially important for the driver’s feeling of driveability. In the case of gear-shifts and torque control in general, the boost pressure is key to achieve good response and thereby a fast gear-shift. An experimental study is carri...

Modeling and identification of the system of Iranian cars is one of the most basic needs of automotive and consumer groups and has a broad role for safe driving. It has happened with speed increasing or changing of shift gear, effects on water temperature or the car's torque has been observed, but how much and how intensely and with what algorithm this effect is identifiable, can be modeled...
متن کاملDriveline modeling and estimation of individual clutch torque during gear shifts for dual clutch transmission
The purpose of the proposed work centers on the unprecedented task of accurately estimating the torque transmitted through each clutch of the dual clutch transmission. This is to possibly improve the clutch control performance during vehicle launch and gearshifts and to elongate the clutch life. Such goal is attained by only using the measurements and data that are already available in current ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a bycatch reduction device (BRD) for shrimp beam trawl using flexible materials
This study aimed to design a bycatch reduction device (BRD) for shrimp beam trawl, which is manufactured by flexible materials to reduce bycatch for the gear in the South Sea of Korea. The model test was carried out to understand the shape of the gear in the water and to measure the variation of flow speed due to the BRD in a circulating water channel. Catches were compared between a shrimp b...
