Field Assessment of Urm Walls Strengthened with Frp Laminates

چکیده
Unreinforced masonry (URM) walls strengthened with composites were tested to failure at a decommissioned building in St. Louis, Missouri. The walls were subjected to out-of-plane loading. Previous work on URM as well as reinforced masonry walls strengthened with FRP laminates has shown remarkable increases in capacity and ductility. However, most of this research work has been conducted in the laboratory, where, it is a difficult to reproduce real field conditions. In this context, this experimental program offered a unique opportunity for performing field experimentation on URM walls strengthened FRP laminates showing that shear-compression led to controlling the failure of either the upper or lower boundary masonry units. An analytical model that provides good agreement with the experimental results is also presented. The model computes the applied concentrated outof-plane load, mid-height deflection, and rotations at the supports. The analytical model can be easily modified to take into account distributed loads acting on the wall.

Shear Strengthening of Urm Clay Walls with Frp Systems
This paper presents an experimental program dealing with the shear strengthening with FRP systems of URM walls built with concrete and clay units. Ten concrete and five clay masonry panels, strengthened with FRP composites in the form of laminates and rods, and stainless steel, were loaded along the wall diagonal to observe their shear performance. The dimension of the concrete masonry panels w...

In this paper, nonlinear behavior of strengthened steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) by FRP laminates theoretically and numerically has been investigated. In the first part, a new method, “the composite-plate frame Interaction (C-PFI) method”, has been introduced to predict the shear behavior of the composite steel plate shear wall systems (CSPSWs). In the second part, several models of one-story ...

Debonding problems of externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets in flexurally FRP-strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beams have been a concern and a research challenge since their application of this strengthening technique. Intermediate crack induced debonding is the most common failure mode which is that the debonding initiates at the critical flexural-shear or flexural crack...
متن کاملOut-of-plane Behavior of Urm Walls Strengthened with Nsm Gfrp Bars
Unreinforced masonry (URM) walls are prone to failure when subjected to out-of-plane loads caused by earthquakes or high wind pressures. In this context, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials may be a solution to solve or lessen the effects of this overloading. This paper describes an experimental program dealing with the flexural behavior of nine concrete URM walls strengthened with glass F...
متن کاملAnalysis of Concrete Bridge Girders Strengthened with Frp Laminates under Service and Extreme Loading Conditions
The project is a continuation from fiscal year 2004-2005. Previous work aimed at developing new analytical tools for analysis of RC beams strengthened with FRP laminates. The models were used to analyze several test specimens of RC beams and to investigate the corresponding failure mode, and whether it is due to CFRP fracture, debonding, or concrete crushing. Current work focused on using the e...
