چکیده
Photosynthesis, Assimilates, C-Metabolism, M arine/Freshw ater Algae, Taxonomy The representatives of the major algal divisions including Chlorophyta, Rhodophyta and Heterokontophyta usually show specific patterns o f accumulated photoassim ilatory products. Among these compounds, the accumulated low-molecular weight carbohydrates such as mono saccharides, disaccharides, alditols (i.e. polyhydroxy alcohols) and heterosides are of particular interest. Comparative analyses based on photosynthetic 14C-labelling provided sufficient evidence that occurrence and distribution o f such compounds are in general indicative for particular algal taxa and in some cases useful biochemical param eters for a classiciation of lower taxa even at the ordinal or the generic levels.

A Review on Biosynthesis, Health Benefits and Extraction Methods of Fucoxanthin, Particular Marine Carotenoids in Algae
Fucoxanthin, an allenic carotenoid, is abundant in macro and microalgae as a component of the light-harvesting complex for photosynthesis and photo protection. This carotenoid has shown important pharmaceutical bioactivity, exerting antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, anti-photoaging, anti-angiogenic, and anti-metastatic effects on a variety of biological models. This caroten...
متن کاملSimple algorithm to assess the diversity and distribution for algae of Iran
By studying algae reports from different localities of the country during the past 87 years, about 6000 records information including 2567 species and infra-specifics were analyzed and distribution maps were drawn. The algae studies in the Iranian islands of the Persian Gulf, especially around Bushehr and the Khark Island by Borgesen (1930), the oldest available document is used in this study. ...
متن کاملAntioxidant compounds with antioxidant properties in seaweed and their application in various industries
Marine algae are known to contain a wide variety of antioxidant compounds. Natural antioxidants, found in many algae, are important bioactive compounds that play an important role against various diseases and ageing processes through protection of cells from oxidative damage. There is now a global interest in finding new and safe antioxidants from natural sources. Algae can have a variety of pr...
متن کاملAlgivore or Phototroph? Plakobranchus ocellatus (Gastropoda) Continuously Acquires Kleptoplasts and Nutrition from Multiple Algal Species in Nature
The sea slug Plakobranchus ocellatus (Sacoglossa, Gastropoda) retains photosynthetically active chloroplasts from ingested algae (functional kleptoplasts) in the epithelial cells of its digestive gland for up to 10 months. While its feeding behavior has not been observed in natural habitats, two hypotheses have been proposed: 1) adult P. ocellatus uses kleptoplasts to obtain photosynthates and ...
متن کاملOn certain Neocomian – Aptian calcareous algae in the West of Kopet Dagh (NE-Iran) – Systematics and compared biogeography, focusing on Dasycladales
In Western Kopet Dagh, the lower Cretaceous carbonate series contains distinctive assemblages of calcareous algae, chiefly Dasycladales which are primarily studied in this work. Based on the significant presence of certain species, the Zard Formation, assigned to the Valanginian and, in its upper part, to the Hauterivian or base of the Barremian, is subdivided into two intervals, respectively A...
