چکیده
A drug provocation test (DPT) is the controlled administration of a drug in order to diagnose drug hypersensitivity reactions. DPTs are performed under medical surveillance, whether this drug is an alternative compound, or structurally/pharmacologically related, or the suspected drug itself. DPT is sometimes termed controlled challenge or reexposure (1), drug challenge (2), graded (2) or incremental challenge (3), test dosing (2), W. Aberer, A. Bircher, A. Romano, M. Blanca, P. Campi, J. The Value of In Vitro Tests to DiminishDrug Challenges
Drug hypersensitivity reactions have multiple implications for patient safety and health system costs, thus it is important to perform an accurate diagnosis. The diagnostic procedure includes a detailed clinical history, often unreliable; followed by skin tests, sometimes with low sensitivity or unavailable; and drug provocation testing, which is not risk-free for the patient, especially in sev...
متن کاملAccuracy of a pharmacovigilance algorithm in diagnosing drug hypersensitivity reactions.
BACKGROUND This study was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of a pharmacovigilance algorithm in patients with 1 or more histories suggestive of drug hypersensitivity. METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of a clinic case series. We analyzed patients with suspected clinical reactions of drug hypersensitivity. Patients with severe skin reactions were excluded. Patients with...

SUMMARY Drug provocation tests (DPTs) are often needed when evaluating patients with suspected drug hypersensitivity reactions. General considerations on DPTs, with regard to indications, contraindications, methods, limitations and interpretations have been thoroughly addressed and various protocols are published. However, the field of drug allergy is changing and DPTs make no exception. Novel ...

Background: Administration of phenytoin can been associated with severe adverse reactions such as hypersensitivity reactions. Lymphocyte transformation test (LTT) can be a useful method for determination of the drug, which has caused hypersensitivity reaction. This study was done to evaluate the results of lymphocyte transformation test in patients with delayed hypersensitivity reactions foll...
